Backyard BBQ or Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue ? ? ?

Never did the BBQ, but we did HDDR in March and loved it. It was my first HDD experience, however, my extended family (who I was traveling with) go to Disney every couple of years and they do HDDR every trip. Yes, the show is corny, but we still find it very funny. The food was very good as well.

Most seem to be suggesting HDD - I havent been there.

We did BBQ last year - tons of fun!

It also has unlimited beer and it's at a walk up station so you dont have to rely on a server to bring it to you.

Also, unlimited ice cream - again in a walk up cooler - all the bars you get in the parks (Mickeys, fruit bars) - kids LOVED that.

Food was much better than I expected - ribs were Awesome! Lots of variety. buffet style which has plusses (Ribs any time you want them and in large quantities) and minuses (many people shuffling through stuff). No assigned seating was nice as it allowed you to move around more.

We went in July - yes it was outside and hot. Surprisingly while being slightly overcast there were no bugs - I was expecting to be swamped. We were at WDW in July, were hot the whole week and expected to be hot. I suppose this could be a downside if you allow heat to bother you.

My kids loved the character visits and dancing. Yes there were lots of people, but I never felt like it was unsafe or too many. The downside to me was the parents who were very aggressive in trying to get their child to a character and photograph them (to the point of being rude to others in the area)

I'd go back in a second if it was an option (2 dining credits) - it was one of the more fun and memorable times of our trip.

Been to both . If I had to pick one no? HDDR first time. Next time do the BYBBQ.

Well, we have ADRs for BBQ next month. Never been. After reading here, not sure if we should try and change or just "go with it". It's our first night there...I thought it would be a fun way to kick off our week. Our girls are 7 & 17, and now I'm afraid neither of them will find much fun in it. Ugh!

My girls were 9 and 7 when we went to the BBQ and they did not like it (it is a big free for all on the dancefloor)..Been to the HDDR 4 times and love it every time..

To compare, HDDR is done over 1000 times a year. MBYBBQ is presented fewer than 100 times. Which do you think is more popular? Must be a reason.
