1st time family trip with me, DW, DD-10, DS-7
We are set to stay at the Poly from 2/28 thru 3/8/13. We requested 3rd floor Samoa with Volcano view.
We chose this deluxe for all the reasons one chooses Poly, location and family friendly/ pool.
With all the chatter of pool closures and construction in early 2013, I feel we should have a backup plan. So for the stuff we are looking for, what do you all think?
CR, for monorail and MK walk?
WL for atmosphere?
Drop down to a moderate or value like AoA?

I know this isn't much different than the "Help me pick my resort" threads out there, but....I already had that figured out and am now a little bummed that we may have to start over. (not very glass half full of me) :rotfl2:
thanks!

Either WL or CR would be my pick with the edge to CR for walkway to park and much larger room size.

If you are looking for a monorail resort, then CR is the way to go. If the monorail is not as important, then consider a resort at the boardwalk or my favorite AKL. Each resort has its own "groupies" so you will gets lots of advice as to why you should stay at "x" resort. I'd suggest you look at the theme of the other resorts and pick one that appeals to you. IMHO all of the deluxe and mod resorts offer something special. Some I like more than others and most likely you will find that true for you too. Also look at amenities you prefer, and that will help you cross some off your list. IF the boat to MK is important, then go with WL. If you want new, then go with AOA or POR - which just got updated. Honestly a great time can be had any any of the resorts. Personally for a first time, I would go with either WL or AKL. They are softer on the wallet, and each have that wow factor.

WL is great! My 7 yr old boy loved it! And we enjoyed the boat to MK. It really is a great location and will be newly renovated for your arrival. We spent most of our time at Magic Kingdom and WL was perfect for us! You can get bunks for the kids do they don't need to share as well. You can always take the boat to contemporary for dining or to hop on the monorail to Epcot or the other monorail resorts. I stayed at Poly as a kid and WL as a grown up and lived them both!

Beach Club would probably be my backup. The pool is awesome (best on property IMO) for the ages of your kids and the Boardwalk area is really fun. The Poly is my favorite resort so good choice on that and Beach Club is close behind it
