We did the 7 hour one and we didnt ride anything. The tour was awesome. We saw rides operating behind the scenes, we got to meet a character and after lunch she broke character and answered questions. We had a terrific lunch. The last thing we did was watch how they control all the floats in teh parade and then we went in a back gate and saw in person what we saw on the tv moniter.
I did this back in 1999 so I am unsure if its exactly the same today but I suspect its still similar. We painted a cell and I think I heard they no longer do that. I loved seeing behind the stage at the Americal Adventure. It was pretty amazing to see how each scene works almost like a conveyor belt. We saw behind test track, we saw a window to see behing a similator (I think it was body wars) We got to ask any question we wanted and was answered by our guide. We were under the utilidors to see the costume, wig, makeup, break rooms and many more areas under ground. The costume was pretty interesting., Did you know they provide, wash and maintain all costumes. Even the person who picks up trash in teh parks. No one does their own laundry. (Thats my kind of job lol)
I havent done any other tours so I cant compare them for you.
