Backstage Magic Question

I was on hold with Disney tours for 30 minutes and thought why not ask here!

On the Disney website it says the age limit for Backstage magic is 12. On the WDWinfo site is says 16.

Were those the old ages and now it's 12? We need the info for our upcoming trip.

Just about a month ago, I remember specifically that the age minimum was 16 on the Disney website.

Yeah they must've if you look currently it's 12.

Thanks for posting this! My DD won't be 16 until the fall and now we can go in August! My mom's going to join us too!

Just as a slight variation from the original post question - how much do they adhere to these age limits. The next time we go my twin boys will be close to 13. Thankfully they are very well behaved and mature boys - they are even into reading the imagineering books, so i know that they would be totally enthralled w/ taking one of the tours.

I'm fairly sure the age limits are placed due to insurance and access to back stage areas. Not so much due to behavior.

As AngiTN said its based on backstage area restrictions and insurance compliances.
