Backstage Magic / Mickey's Halloween Party

My husband and I were thinking of booking the October 2014 Backstage Magic adults only trip. I started thinking about Mickey's Halloween Party and am worried that we might miss out on some of the special evening entertainment events if a party falls on one of the nights we are there. Has anyone had this experience? I would appreciate any insight you can share. Thank you very much!!

I'm doing the BSM adults only tour this October 13-18. The only party going on during my tour is on a Tuesday night and that's the night we arrive at DLR after the Hollywood part of the tour. That day is very busy in Hollywood as well. I'm just assuming they will arrange for us to have activities at DCA or elsewhere that night. I'm not worried about it. From what I have noticed, ABD is really on top of things and I'm sure everything will be fine. They are used to making adjustments as needed, and I'm sure they're aware of the party that night.

I certainly can update after my October tour as to how it's handled.

I've checked with ABD; the tour will include tickets to Mickey's Halloween party on the 15th (and dinner will be relocated to Storyteller's Cafe from Big Thunder Ranch). So bring your costume...

Yes, I received the letter today from Adventures By Disney with the itinerary change and notification that because Disneyland will be closed on Tuesday night of our trip that we will be given tickets to the Halloween party. Reserved parade and fireworks viewing is included along with VIP access to an iconic attraction and, then, it states we are on our own.

The thing is I got a DVC advance purchase discounted ticket to the Halloween party for my last day of my post-tour stay, and I doubt DL will refund it. I will call ABD and ask. It will be nice to have reserved viewing of the parade and fireworks, though. That would never happen with the regular ticket. Lots of meals at Storytellers! But, then again, you never know when there might be other surprises!

YodasMom- my aunt and I are in the same boat with having purchased tickets to a party the last night we're there for our post-trip stay. Would you mind sharing what ABD tells you when you call them about possible refunds? The reserved seating for fireworks/cavalcade will definitely be a nice perk that first night. I know we were planning to start camping out pretty early for a great spot for the fireworks that last night we were there.

Do you have any sense of how many people are going to be on the tour?

The ABD website still lists it as available - but when I called ABD, I was told that it was sold out, which I think means that there are 44 guests.

One other option to consider is the "ultimate experience" package for the second party, which combines a party ticket with the "happiest haunts" tour. But I think the tours are only put on sale 30 days in advance, and I don't know if a DVC party ticket can be upgraded in that way.

ABD called me back today. They instructed me to send back the ticket and order form to the ticket address which they gave me. They also said to make copies of both. They told me I would be refunded by DL tickets once they received the ticket in return.

So, I'm actually still trying to decide if I want to return it. I'm staying till Tuesday morning the following week and there are 2 parties after the tour is over meaning DL will be closed for 2 of the 4 extra nights that I am staying. I don't know....I might want to wander in and out of DL on one of those nights even though I might not spend the whole night there on that Monday after the tour. Still trying to decide.

I don't know if the tour is sold out. I think there were 5 or 6 openings last March when I registered. If it's not sold out now, it's close.

I'm just in the thinking stages of what I want to take with me, but have been replenishing my travel supplies when I see things. I keep my toiletry, etc bags stocked regularly anyway. Really excited!

If I did this tour, I think I would probably need to return my Halloween Party tickets for a refund and then sign up for the tour. There are DVC discounts for the tours, I think, too. Sounds like a fun tour, but they're ticketed by different departments which would likely be too complicated to coordinate between the 2 departments!

Is there any benefit to doing the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour. Has anyone done it who has also done BSM. Didn't know if there was anything additional.

YodasMom - I feel like our paths could be crossing a lot post tour because we're also staying until Tuesday and have tickets to the Monday night party!

I talked to my Aunt and I think we're going to keep our party tickets so we'll have some flexibility to be in DL if we want that night and to partake in any party festivities we want to repeat from Tuesday night or do anything we missed.

After all that, I will probably do the same! I like to be able to be flexible, too, especially with only one other park as the other option.

It's exactly one month until I leave for this October's BSM tour and I'm so excited. Expecting that special "box" soon, too. Something is arriving tomorrow and it may be that (either that or some curtains that I ordered). I got a UPS e-mail for a delivery coming tomorrow!

I have been so busy with work that I forgot many of the things people have experienced on this tour, so I'm going to be re-surprised, I think, next month!
