I am sure this has been discussed ad nauseum, but what are the opinions on the best backback for a couple in their 20s (no children) to bring to Disney World? We would probably use the backpack for water bottles, camera and any other little things we might decide to bring into the parks each day. Hopefully we can get away without using one, but I would rather be prepared.

Thanks!

Todd

My boyfriend and I use mini backpacks. They hold the perfect amount of stuff for us, and are lightweight and not cumbersome on the rides. We put our disposable rain ponchos, autograph book, batteries, camera, sunglasses, ziplock bags, and sometimes our hats in it. We have these two and love them- I like this brand better than than other mini backpacks because the straps are padded.

My wife and I are planning our first trip together also, no kids yet. Googling for a good fanny pack alternative for Disney is actually what led to me discover the DIS recently :)

A fanny pack really IS convenient, but I still remember my whole family giving my mom a hard time about her fanny pack on our WDW trips  so those are a no.

A backpack seems a bit overkill for 2 adults, and just not as convenient as a shoulder or messenger bag (I want fully hands free, just rotate it around to front on rides instead of having to put it at my feet). I've read through loads of past posts about Baggallini, Overland, Travelon, LL Bean, REI, etc etc.. two DIS favorites seem to be the Baggallini Messenger and Overland Donner. We're going to try the Donner for its 2 water bottle holders.

I am not just a Disney fanatic but an amusement park fanatic and I always carry a back pack. I keep sun screen, a water bottle, my wallet, phone, an extra t-shirt, an extra pair of socks, a rain poncho and a couple of snacks. I bought my current back pack a few years ago at Eastern Mountain. It is a simple day pack. I went ahead and spent the extra money on a light weight day pack because of the comfort and I wanted one that would last a while, it is going on I believe four years now.

try a lesportsac. they are a little expensive but should last a long time and they are soooo lightweight when empty which I think is the key to a good disney backpack!!

I vote for fannypack. The one I use the most is a North Face pack designed for climbing - easy to reach water bottle holder, lots of loops for this and that and best of all some hefty cinch straps to keep the whole package as small as possible. I don't like wearing a backpack in warm weather if I can help it - the fanny pack may not look as cool but I have a better time staying cool. :cool2:

As one half of a couple in their twenties, I try not to carry anything if I don't have to. I have a tiny bottle of sunscreen, a disposable poncho, and a sunglass case that clips onto my belt. My camera case also slides onto my belt. These all fit in the pockets of my "roomier" shorts. Cargo shorts are perfect! I do have a couple of fanny packs, but I try not to use them if I don't have to. One of the fanny packs was $2.50 at Target. It has 2 small pockets and between them is a water bottle holder. It's no where near as geeky as other fanny packs! I tried a sling backpack a few years ago, but it got really heavy after a while. The strap wasn't adjustable and it was really a bit too big, so the weight wasn't distributed well.

Personally I'm against backpacks. It makes the wearer of it a pack mule, everything gets thrown in it and most of the stuff is never used. We like to travel as light as possoble and everyone should carry or haul their own stuff. We have small hip packs, Disney bought, and they hold tickets, little cash and a small camera. We're staying on property and our room is not far enough away to haul half our belongings to a park or to use a locker. We mostly take noon breaks so we can transfer different items needed for amand pm. Water is no problem, we do drink Florida water and as stated are returning to our room by noon. I've seen many a guest going through security at a park with a backpack that looks like they are climbing Everest and when the Florida heat comes out, nothing is comfortable hanging from your back.
