Hi. Does Disney allow people to wear backbacks in the park? My girlfriend and I will be going down next Tuesday...we bought those packs with the water bladder inside (in case we get thirsty ;) Will we be allowed on the rides with them? Also, does Universal Studios follow the same rules? Thanks! :)

Yes you are allowed to take backpacks into the parks. You will have to stop at a security check point on the way in. A short wait, but no big deal. You are allowed on the rides with them too. My suggestion is toput the backpack down by your feek and put one leg through a strap. This usually works for me. :thumbsup2

As far as Universal, I'm not sure. I haven't been there in 10 years, but I'm going back this year so I will watch this thread to see what people say.

I always take a backpack with me in the parks. Just to let you know security will check the backpack. I usually carry the water bottles, snacks, sandwiches for the kids etc and have no problems. You should have no problems on the rides either.

Hello!

At Universal Studios, you are not allowed to take ANYTHING with you on some rides, like on the Incredible Hulk Coaster. You can leave your things in a FREE locker, which is free for an hour or 2.

I decided against the camelbak after reading on the Disboards that Disney security doesn't let unsealed liquids into the park. Is this accurate information? If so, it may affect the poster's decision. I wouldn't want to have to fill the camelbak in the park!

I saw tons of people with camelbaks in the parks on our recent trip, so they're no problem at all. I think they're a great idea.

I always take a backpack! I do have a bad habit of forgetting it's there and turning around too quickly. If I've ever bumped you with it-I'm sorry for being so clueless!

I'd love to bring my Camelbak, so I'm really interested to see if they are allowed.

Here's some info about Universal I wrote up for a post the other day. The four rides at UO that absolutely require you to put ALL loose articles (backpacks, fanny packs, purses, everything) in a locker are

Hulk
Dueling Dragons
Men in Black
Revenge of the Mummy

The way the lockers work is that by the entrance to each of these rides, there is a bank of lockers. They are free for the first hour and 40 minutes (more than enough time to wait and ride). The lockers are set up in rows, and in the middle of each set there is an electronic screen that has instructions how to use them. What you do is use the touch screen to say you want to rent a locker. It then asks you to put a thumb on the fingerprint reader right below the screen. If it reads the print adequately, it then asks you to put the same thumb on again to confirm. If it gets the two good readings, it then tells you what number locker you have. That locker has a little light (some of them red, some green) that is blinking when it is unlocked for you. You open the locker, put your stuff in, close it, and push the lighted button to lock it. Remember your locker number!!! Then you go ride the ride. When you come back for your stuff, you go back to the same screen, and use the touch screen again, but this time you tell it you need to open your locker to retrieve your things. It will ask you the locker number, you punch it in, and then it will ask you to put the same thumb you used to rent the locker onto the fingerprint reader. If it matches, which it should, your locker is then automatically unlocked and you can retrieve your stuff. It sounds more complicated than it is, but after the first time it literally took less than a minute. The only delays were when people in front of me at the screen either couldn't figure it out (I ended up explaining it several times) or had trouble getting their fingerprints to register. I think most of the time they were pushing too hard or moving their thumb or something. If you forget your number or have other problems, there is an attendant there to help. We stayed onsite, so we had Express pass with our room keys, and we rode those four rides over and over again, so we used it a lot! A little inconvenient, but not a big deal.

Probably more information than you need right now, but I hope that helps!
