Backpacks?

I realize this might be a silly question but how do you carry your necessary stuff (camera, sunscreen, medication, etc...) at Disney? Do you carry a backpack? Can you bring it on rides? I will not be using a stroller because my DD is too old and although it's practical I'm not a fanny-pack Mom. Any suggestions?

I use a backpack to tote around all I need for me, DH and DD's (3 and 6). I had no problems taking it on the rides with me and luckily DH is man enough to carry a brightly colored Pooh bag. Okay he wouldn't do this in the real world but "what happens at Disney stays at Disney" :rotfl2: Biggest tip...Clean out the backpack daily. It can tend to get stuffed with all sorts of things.

I probaly should mention I don't ride Tot or RnR so I am not sure about bring your bag on those. I'm sure someone else would know.

I have a small back pack (day pack) that is perfect. I got it in the luggage section at Walmart as opposed to the back pack section. I do have an LL Bean back pack for traveling but it would be too big to carry around the parks.

I used a sling backpack for 6 days in November. I rode on ToT, RnR, etc. Brought it with me on everything with not trouble. I like the sling ones better than the 2 shoulder ones because I could slide it around to the front and get into it without taking it off my shoulder. I agree with previous poster to clean it out daily and repack what you need. Have fun!!

Last summer we did the back pack thing. Ours got a nickname... the Killer. Everyone loved having it to put their stuff in, but no one liked carrying it. Several times, especially later in the evening, it was left behind for a brief moment before we realized someone left it behind. this year we are doing the fanny pack thing. However, we did take "Killer" with us on every ride. Make sure that you have large ziplock bags to put things you don't want to get wet in (I.E. camera's etc.) And good luck! :thumbsup2

I just bought a very cute kate spade purse and it came w/ a bonus purse!! It has a long strap so I can wear it like a sling. It is big enough to hold my camera, small tube of sunscreen, money, and sunglasses I sure I could squeeze in a few more small things. Also it is a kate spade knock off :ssst: so it only cost me $45. For me it was the perfect answer because I'm not a fanny pack mom either and I don't want to lugg a big backpack around. I may have my kids wear fanny packs.

when we went I carried the shoulder bag with winnie the pooh on it now you wouldn't catch me carrying this any where else but the trip planning fell all on DW so figured the lease I could do was carry the weight. lol she cleaned it out nightly andplaced things for the next day in it. extra copy of daily plans in case she lost hers our of her hand. also another great tip she came up with was a clear plastic "fishing license holder" this was on a colored string to be placed on each persons neck. if some was running for fast passes elsewhere everyone took off their color coded ticket holder and the person running had everything they needed and could place fastpass into each ticket holder for that person it also kept everyones tickets ear marked for that person.

I usually carry a fanny pack. Because of lap bars,I would periodically have to take it off and throw it over my shoulder like a heavy ackward purse.

At the suggestion of another poster on DIS I just purchased a Baggallini Messanger Bag. Very impressed with it and highly suggest it. Presently, the bags are on sale with free shipping at ebags.

What a nice DH to carry the Winnie the Pooh bag around the park!!!!!!

I'm curious about the clear plastic "fishing license holder" on a colored string. Please give me more information about this - we are a family of six, so I would need 6 different colors.

We normally bring along a few bags. One orange cooler bag that holds water, snacks, and possibly lunches. I always wear a camera bag that holds both the video and digital cameras. I have found that most rides will accomodate these bags, but rides like RnR and ToT would be a challenge. A backpack, depending on the size, might actually fit in the compartments provided on the rides.

We just got back from WDW last night. I bought the black backpack that says Walt Disney World on it at the POP Century gift shop. It worked out great for me. I put my DS diapers and wipes in it, a small blanket, and a change of clothes for both kids just in case. In the small pocket in front I had DD's autograph book and pen, our camera and some money. I brought it on all the rides with no problem. DH did hold it when I took DD6 on Expedition Everest though.

I use what can only be described as a midget messenger bag from Dickies. It only measures about 7x5x3 but it fits everything neccessary for a day at Disney but it is small enough the you can't put random stuff in there that would weigh you down. I usually keep my phone, camera, wallet, chapstick, change purse, small bottle of hand sanatizer and a small tube of sunscreen in it with no problem. However I am forced to put DFi cell phone and wallet in there as well when going on wet rides because the inside is linded and waterproof. It has a really long strap that is adjustable and the clasp on the front is one of those plastic things that you have to squeeze both sides and pull to open it so I am never worried about stuff falling out. I also use the clasp to hook a bag onto when I am tired of carrying it. I have had this for a couple of years so it may not be out anymore but I got it at Mervyn's and I love it, it is my Official Disney Bag!

i carry my camera bag. Its large enought to two cameras and extra film but not that big at all. In fact last year when we went to sea world, my hubby always had a camera in his hand, so i was able to stick our drink in it so i ended up not having to hold it lol
