Heading to Disney Friday. What is allowed to be taken into the parks? Any regulations on size of backpacks? What are stroller costs? Better to take own umbrella stroller or more efficient to rent? Help.........

They allow backpacks and outside strollers. A regular sized backpack is probably allowed. The stroller depends on whether you have room for it. It also depends on how you plan to get around. Strollers are fine on the monorail but are difficult with the buses.

:cool1:

We brought our own umbrella stroller because of the cost everyday and the convience of having it when we got off the bus at the resort. We found a umbrella stroller easy to carry on the buses and light of course. You can rent them at the parks but some are gone already depending on when you arrive and also the $. I can't remember the $ but at least 10.00. Backpacks of any kind are aloud in MK. I know you can't bring in coolers with wheels. My kids all brought school size backpacks and I brought in a disney bag that can hold the kitchen sink and no one said anything.

Have fun :wizard:

I used my backpack. It is a bit bigger than a regular backpack. I'm not sure if they will let you in with a hiking pack or the like.

thanks for the info. I'm sure you can never be quite fully prepared. I'm just trying to save $ and take sandwiches, snacks and water in. I think we'll just hit WalMart again and get another umbrella stroller instead of spending $40.00 to rent one each day.

We had the Great Stroller Debate when our granddaughter was five. I was told she would walk circles around us. I bought a $20 umbrella stroller for her (we were driving so no issues with airlines). She didn't use it that much but when she needed it, she needed it. Especially after spending all day at a park and then getting back to the buses and the cabin (stayed at Fort Wilderness). I held back "I told you so's" to my husband, son, and daughter-in-law.

There's no regulation size to backbacks. I have seen people bring in rolling ones but those are a royal back in the butt since people seem to forget they are lugging them around. Coolers are not allowed. Snacks and drinks are technically not allowed but no one says anything. They just don't want you to bring in that much outside food and make a full scale picnic. Also, no glass containers of any kind are permitted.

We just got back on May 1. We bought a small lightweight folding stroller from KMart shortly before our trip. It had a basket and a canopy for shade and it was only $30. I packed a small soft pack cooler in our suitcase and filled the cooler with sandwiches and drinks. I used the hotel ice machine to keep things cool. I packed a box of zip lock baggies and filled a couple with ice and threw out the baggie at the end of the day. Since we had the stroller, we found it easy because we did not have to lug everything around. It worked out great. Have a great trip!

When my kids were babies, I would bring my own stroller. As they got older, I rented a double stroller. It was large and sturdy. We always brought in a small soft cooler packed with drinks, sandwiches, and snacks. We would hang it on the back of the stroller. This is the first year that I won't be renting a stroller. We got the dining plan because there is no way to carry that stuff anymore.

No wagons, no rolling coolers. If it drags behind, you can't use it. Also, if the parks are crowded, they sometimes make you leave your honkin' big jogging stroller at the front gate and use a rental (for free). You can wipe out a small country with some of those jogging strollers.

Strollers always have to closed up to ride on the buses. On the monorail, if it is full, they might make you close up your stroller. Boats, you can usually keep the stroller opened up and in use. Except for the smaller ones like the little one from MK to GF or WL to CR.
