Backpack cubbies?

When you no longer need to use a stroller where do you put backpacks and bags when you go on rides? Sorry if this is not the correct place to post this!

I just take mine with me. Put it by my feet. or hold on to it.

Yep, you just take it with. I had a shoulder bag some days and a backpack others, never had a problem putting them by my feet. On Kali River Rapids they do have free lockers (with a time limit, you pay if you don't come back before the end of it) so I used it then so our stuff wouldn't get wet but I brought the bag with on every other ride

Since I'd never leave a bag or backpack unattended in public, I'd bring it with me even if I did have a stroller. Even a diaper bag with just changing stuff in it may get taken, and it would stink to be out of supplies if a diaper needed to be changed.

Bring it with me. I already bring all my important stuff with me so that won't change.

And by the time you are ready to give up the stroller, you can likely take a much smaller bag. We have learned you really do not need much at all in the parks. If DS7 did not require allergy stuff,we would never carry a bag at all. Sometimes we even carry epi pens and meds in cargo pockets and carry no bag at all.

Do people not reapply sunscreen, bring cameras, ponchos?

I do usually throw a small snack (single bar) in too. I cannot see us getting rid of these things soon. We too bring allergy meds as well.

I never reapply sunscreen, my phone is my camera and I don't even bother to take ponchos anymore. If it doesn't fit in my wristlet, it doesn't go with me. Anything the kids want to take, they have to carry. I wasn't a pack horse and they learned quickly what was important to have with them!

I can fit sunscreen, point and shoot camera, and a couple of ponchos in my cargo shorts. If I bring my DSLR camera I need a bag

Many parks will not let you take bags on rides. I think most people are surprised that WDW does. It is very easy to do so and there is often a pocket for your bag- like on BTMRR and the middle "waterproof" section on Kali.

Lol thanks but I never felt like a pack animal and would preferred not to be compared to one...lol. We don't carry anything but essentials.

DH carries one backpack we fit everything into. I am just always amazed how those can stay in the parks for several hours, not burn or not mind getting wet. I can't cut any of it out ( ponchos are only for days rain is forecasted not every day). But I am not forcing my 6 yr old to carry her Epi pen, Benadryl, nor my 4 year old her special sunscreen bc she will break out in a full body rash without it. It isn't like they want to bring a doll. I would be more stressed making sure they don't lose their bags with important items that can't easily be replaced. I am stuck with my purse so I can take my phone and lens drops but I carry a tiny one bc I don't always have pockets. Just wondered how those go with young kids and bring nothing at all.

I do have my children (the ones age 4 and over) carry EpiPens and inhalers in their own fanny packs. It keeps my bag from being too big and heavy, and mostly it makes sure they always have their meds with them. We went once with everything in my bag, and then my husband and I split up, and I realized I had all the Epi and he had a food-allergic kiddo. I prefer my children to have their own meds if there's a chance I won't be right at their sides. Besides, if we did have to use Epi, it would be nice for the older children to have the full strength EpiPens on their bodies and the little ones to have Epi Jr. so that we didn't have to dig through the bag looking for the right size in the heat of the moment.

You fold the poncho small and either loop it over your waistband or tuck it in your pocket. If it gets wet, you fold the wet side to the inside and repeat. Or carry a small store bag (like a plastic bag) and tuck it in the bag.

Leave as much stuff in your hotel room as possible. Bring only the very minumum that you can stick in a pocket or tiny bag. When you need dry clothes, head back to the resort. When you need more sunscreen, head back to the resort. No need to spend twelve hours at the theme park.

I reapply every couple hours if I'm not interested in burning. If we've taken a bus, given my luck with transportation, it would take as long to get to and from a park as I spent in the park. If I drove, I need to leave even earlier so I don't reapply on the way to the car or I have to reapply anyway so why leave?

Sunscreen doesn't work on everyone for 12 hours.

That said I do decant it into 311 bottles so its much smaller.

When we used disposable ponchos I put them in a merchandise bag and had DS carry it. When we remember out nice ponchos they fold up into a pouch and we out them in a backpack or just carry them.


I did a solo day at Epcot he other week for a matter of hours and carried very little in. Then did some shopping at a store, got some themepark paper earrings near the outpost, bought a souvenir beer mug in Canada and some to-go bakery items in Norway...and by the time I left my hands were full of bags. I wished for a backpack! Non backpack touring isn't for me.

Unfortunately that sounds great but my girls and I often wear dresses so no waist band. Guys have it easier I guess...lol. Also we are fair skinned and need to reapply every 2-3 hours but if we put it on at 730am we would need to reapply around 10 or 11 give or take, much too early to "head back. Even when we head back at lunchtime...still have to reapply before that or risk getting a bad burn.

As far as carrying one's one Epi pens. We only have one for shellfish. We always eat as a family so I do not have to worry about separating and not having it. That is a good idea though if you have another condition or other specific allergy (like to nuts) that would make snacks or things like a bee sting an anytime threat.

We still use a stroller at WDW but not at other parks......I have a bag that I carry my DSLR in that I put our essentials in....it has a long adjustable strap incase i want to wear it crossbody....my family wouldn't burn (perks to our olive Italian skin!) but I also carry sunscreen and reapply every 3 hours religiously as its the right thing to do! I buy blue lizard and find the 3 and 5 oz sizes are carry friendly...I also carry a snack for each child, my 2 phones and 2 iPods, and a small card holder ( DVC, license, disney visa etc)...if necessary (track night or run disney etc) - I can put the inhaler in..

I don't ever wear a dress in the park (too hard to assist my 3 yr old in/out of rides as well as myself and still make sure that my dress stays in place - so I don't know how that type of bag would work for you..I sometimes take a Vera Bradley backpack or just a string backpack with me instead if those are better...

We bring the bag on rides at Disney...(although not on Kali river cause of the camera!)...

When we enter the parks in the morning, we have everyone bring a water bottle from the case we get..incentive to stay hydrated is to drink it quickly so they dont have to carry it anymore! I understand your concern about the kids carrying stuff - we would certainly end up backtracking to get what they forgot somewhere! I do think that if I had a kid with a peanut allergy I might reconsider him carrying it though since We often split up!

My DH wears cargo shorts to store stuff in pockets when he needs too - but he is not against carrying a backpack if needed...

Good Luck! Going stroller free was hard at first but has gotten a little easier! We are commando park goers happy to stay there for 10 hours and would never go back to the room for things suggested by previous posters!

There is always the option of renting a locker. I have done this several times. Once for MNSSHP to store our costumes before the party started. And I have also used lockers for an extra pair of shoes. I have several issues with my feet and changing shoes midday sometimes helps with my foot pain. I just bring and extra pair in a small back pack and put them in a locker. It really nice to know you have what you need close by without having to make the trek all the way back to the hotel. It was worth the extra money and peace of mind for me.

Since dumping the stroller we always take a backpack. Need our epi pens and meds. Pen and autograph book. Sunscreen. A few snacks. Ponchos if tons of rain is forcasted. Sunglasses/case. And add throughout the day. Empty it each night and start anew. We put things that cant get wet in ziplocks. Everything goes on rides. No big deal at wdw.

I brought my baggalini messanger bag most days (but did bring our backpack if we needed more) and was with my husband and 7 and 9 year olds. I had sunscreen, pennies and quarters for pressing, our park plans, cell phones, ponchos when the forecast predicted rain, cash, cards, ids, the kids autograph books (passport books in epcot), camera with spare battery....all sorts of stuff fit in that little bag and I was glad to have all of it.
