I think I have seen someone make a couple of posts about a great backpack cooler they used for WDW. Of course, now that we are thinking about going, I can't find it. Does anyone have one you love for this purpose?

I bought a maxcool backpack cooler at Target last year it works great and keeps things cool.

Wow - I just bought this the other day....but I'm taking it back today. We have 6 people and it just doesn't seem big enough for us. For 30 bucks, I think I'll just make do with something else. If it was any bigger I think it would be too heavy...

Great product though....

We have a small soft sided cooler but our trip will be anywhere from 9-13 people so we may need a couple of these just for snacks.

We spent roughly $25 at Target and bought an Igloo brand insulated, back pack cooler. It’s very lightweight and insulated to keep things cold.

While at Target, I took the backpack to the aisle where they have the Rubbermaid containers. (Like Tupperware) I bought a large rectangular container that would fit inside the insulated back pack. I chose the biggest one I could get that would fit. Be sure to leave room for a blue ice. You can try all of these things out for size before you leave Target.

I make sandwiches at the hotel and place them in the Rubbermaid container. When we’re going to the parks, place the blue ice pack and the Rubbermaid container in the insulated backpack. It stays cold until lunch time and all is well. It keeps the sandwiches from being smashed. I also put a can of Pringles in the outer holder where you should place a bottle of water. So, Pringles and sandwiches for lunch.

When the Pringles can is empty, you can keep it for the next day to use as a container if you want to refill it with cheetos or something else you don’t want to get crushed.

This works well for us not only for Disney but also trips to the zoo etc.

For drinks, those in our family who drink soda buy a soda for lunch and also Disney will give you a glass of ice water free at any of the counter food services if you don’t drink soda.

I got a Coleman backpack cooler off of Ebay recently. It's red and black. Cooler part held lunch for a family of 4 on our recent vacation. Backpack area was roomy enough to hold paper plates, snacks, diapers/wipes, etc. My husband thinks it's an awesome invention...2 bags in one. :rotfl: We did have to open up each section when entering the parks.

I am so glad I read this thread! I have a backpack with a cooler on the bottom. It has a Mickey on it too! I totally forgot about these (I actually have 2). My DD and her BF got them about 4 years ago when they first applied for the Disney Visa. They both gave them to me :cool1: I just dug them out of my closet for my up coming trip. I totally forgot about them ..thank you OP for starting this thread. :thumbsup2

Well ya'll are so welcome! We may be bringing relatives that wouldn't usually go on a Disney vacation so I'm trying to slash the food budget even more than usual, so I appreciate the help!

That's the ONLY way to do it & if you have access to a car go to Super Walmart not far from WDW and buy all the snax and sandwich makings etc
Thank U again I was so excited to find my bag that I forgot I had :rotfl2:

Didn't know that these existed! How cool! (no pun intended!) With a small child and many summer trips/outings, I think this would come in handy!

Question: Can you take the reusable ice packs on the plane? I'm guessing in your checked luggage? Just have a concern about them breaking/popping. Thanks!

After getting them out of the closet, I emailed my sister.. she has already claimed it.. or I would have passed it on.

Here is my cooler....
it has a draw string on the top & regular thick straps for holding on your back.

That is very cute.

It probably wouldn't hold enough for all 5 of us (and DH is adament about taking his own water! The rest of us can drink water fountain water.)

But it would be fine for a couple of people.

I have found in the Disney fridge's at the moderates, if you place something completely touching the back wall (where the cold comes from) it will freeze, either partly or fully. So place your ice packs, or a bottle of water against the back wall each night and they should be pretty cold to use again the next day.
