backordered on legos.com what are my chances?

I ordered DS the harry potter castle from lego.com but it is backordered. It says shipping 1/30/11

has anyone had experience with lego before with backorders? I'm wondering if i should cancel and order elsewhere? i got 10% off plus free shipping and have the rewards card with them so i had $5 coupon. Good deal but not if it doesn't get here for Christmas.

I ordered two weeks ago and it stated it was on backorder for 30 days. But it is being delivered today...so, hard to tell. I would play it safe, buy another and keep the receipt and cancel the Lego order if it does not arrive...

Depends on when you ordered, but I did so Friday afternoon and according to Lego customer service I have a 0% chance of receiving that item by Christmas. Thankfully I found it at the local TRU, but it was way more expensive. ~sigh~

Personally, I'd call their customer service and make sure what the ship date will be. I think they'll let you know your chances - hopefully you are further up the list than I was!

My aunt was looking for the castle for my cousin and it is sold out everywhere near us! She checked Lego and saw it was backordered so decided to order from Amazon, she said she would rather have it than not since it was the only thing he was asking for. I would say get it from where u can if it's in stock and cancel the back ordered one.

OP, I may have to eat my words from earlier! My Quidditch set shipping today, almost two weeks earlier than expected, AND the castle set now has an anticipated ship date of 30 days out. I wonder if it may happen that you get the castle before Christmas! That would be

No guarantees, but I sort of wish I hadn't cancelled my order and bought elsewhere. FWIW, though, I did find the set at WalMart for a much more reasonable price (normal list price instead of the $20 upcharge from TRU) and returned the TRU one. Gotta love an extra $20 in your pocket.
