Which one do you think is better for lunch? Thank you for all opinions! And happy Valentine's day!!!!

Backlot is more burgers, chicken strips and the Commissary has more "meal" type food. Asian noodle dishes and the like. Ones really not better than the other, just different.

We like both... I would decide based on wherever you are in the park when you want to eat!

We prefer Backlot Express. It's bigger so it seems less crowded to us and it's easier to get a table. The food is good, a typical quick lunch.

My vote goes to Backlot Express - I did not think there was a bad burger anywhere in WDW - but, sure enough, I found it at the ABC Comissary!!

Our family of four had lunch at the ABC Commissary last month. We each got something different and each of our meals was awful! This was the only bad counter service place we ate at ... never again.

We ate there last Thursday night. It was the worst meal we have had on Disney property. We were hungry and the food was bad. I threw my salad out after 1 bite and the kids picked at there dinners. Really gross and we are not picky.

Next time we will take the boat to Epcot and eat at the bakery in France. For the same counter service you get outstanding food.

Just got home and can't wait to go back !!!!!

Our 6th trip was the best so far.

While I haven't been to Backlot Express before, I would steer clear of the Commissary!!! :sad2:

We've eaten there for lunch & breakfast & we will not be returning - the food we had on 2 separate trips was just not edible. :confused3

We may be trying Backlot Express on our upcoming trip :)

We ate at the Backlot Express in October and our food was good. Typical Burgers and Chicken Strips, but tasty. Deserts were really good.
We have eaten at the Commissary on past trips and we will not eat there again, It was really bad.
All in all, I think MGM has the worsst CS food of all of the parks. When we ate at Backlot Express, I was not expecting much, and we were pleasantly surprised.

And we found horrible burgers at Rosie's, over by ToT. Tasted like someone was handling that meat for a couple of hours! Grrrrrrrrross!

Never had Backlot but ABC commisary was the only counter service we ate the whole trip that just plain stank and we were dissatisfied with. We went slightly earlier than the rush. I had to run back somewhere and retrieve my son's Disney hat from the muppet show. So the family got a sandwich, a burger, and a noodle bowl and kids mac n cheese. When I walked in, they had a ton of stuff pre-made and it was before rush. I didn't buy anything for me thinking I might just munch on what was left over from everyone else b/c we had an early dinner ressie. Good thing I did. The food had obviosly been sitting out for awhile. It absolutely was terrible. The only thing we finished was the kid's mac n cheese and the packaged applesauce and brownie deserts. Those were too hard to mess up apparantly. I pity the rush that came in 1/2 hour later as we were leaving b/c the same food was still sitting out ready 1/2 hour older.

I think the place I want to try is the place with the flatbread sammies back in the back of the place if it's open. Other than that do yourself a favor. Make your Dinner ressies at 4:30 and eat breakfast before you get there.

The irony is there was good food to be had at certain counters at every other park. We didn't meet anyone with a single good thing to say about any of the counters at MGM.

Don't eat at the ABC Commisary. Yuck. I agree that it was the only meal I had at WDW my entire trip that was really just not good. I left over half of it on my plate. The Haagen Daz bar I had for dessert was good, but that's as good as it got.

I could have kicked myself in the behind for not eating at Studio Catering, after smelling the delicious aromas wafting over to the HISTK playground area where I was stuck w/dd for 1.5 hrs!

ABC Commissary is truly horrible. I haven't eaten at Backlot Express, but there is a fruit stand nearby where we got lovely apples for my children for a light lunch. I too would recommend the eat a big breakfast and make an early dinner reservation when at MGM strategy. Either that or stop at the grocery store and bring your own lunch.

I don't really see any difference and eat at whatever I'm closest to at the time.

I think Backlot does have outdoor tables, maybe I'm crazy.

The Backlot is all covered but not fully enclosed. I think they have changed their menu recently because it didn't look at all like it used to. They seem to have more sandwiches now and different side items.

We had a decent meal at BackLot Express and a HORRIBLE one at ABC.... Backlot has inside and outside seating.

2 bad meals at ABC Commisary and a great one at Backlot--I'll be going back to backlot in July! BTW the backlot had great salads, grilled veggie sandwich, turkey sandwiches and cranberry coleslaw. In addition they have the burgers, fires, chicken fingers and dogs.
