Background check-not so thorough

I applied for a job that had drug testing and criminal background check, no problem. I had to pick up the drug testing paperwork today and my future boss was like, we found something on the back ground check. I am just dumbfounded, because I haven't done anything. So she starts by saying that it came up that someone who has my name, a common name had guilty verdicts in Florida. uh, the only time I go to Florida is to WDW and DCL, and some of these actions were before I started going there.
She gives me the paperwork, ok, the birthday is off by 2 days and the middle name isn't the same. She tries doing the check again, via the internet for Search America-who even has a disclaimer that they are not responsible if the info isn't accurate. So I say, these my last few addresses, all in Va. Never lived in Florida.
So she then realizes it isn't me. I start next week, but she was like, maybe someone stole your identity. No, your paying for a inaccurate background check.
Has this happened to you?

There is actually someone that lives in the same town as me that has the same name if they don't check full middle names. Mine is Lynn, hers is Linda. Unfortunately SHE is a scumbag. Lots of judgements against her, jail time etc. The worst was when she got arrested for selling drugs in a parking lot after a football game and it was in the local paper. Of course it looks like my name, same town...but so not me. Doesn't help that we have season tickets and I was at the game. Went into work and got lots of strange looks. Everytime we went for a mortgage I had to sign affadavits saying that I am not her. It is a big old pain in my rear. Our last re fi, we didn't even put my name on the mortgage, just DH's. We just got sick of the hassle involved and we qualify on just his. I'm still on the title/deed...just not the bill.

I've known of a few mistaken identity issues in my family.

My husband has picked up meds from Walgreen's, right name, right drug, wrong address on label. He also had his file mixed with another family for medical assistance. Apparently there was another man of the same name in our area, except he's much much older and has a huge family. Not a common set of names in MN, but they are common names in other states.

My dad and my brother have the same name, my brother being a "junior". They both used the same bank. When my brother went to apply for his first home loan the bank had records that he already had a loan with them for a home.. and refused the loan. Found out later, the bank records had my brother married to my mom. My dad was also married to my mom, and my SIL simply did not exist.

My BIL has had various collectors calling and mail delivered that was not his. His name (really not that common) is the same as another guy who at one time lived in the area. The mystery guy skipped town leaving bills behind. Even years later, my BIL still gets phone calls from collectors looking for the guy on very old debt.

My Dsis has a very uncommon last name (married name). Well apparently it isn't as uncommon as we all think. There was another with the same exact first name, middle name and last name in the same OB/GYN office. My Dsis would constantly get phone calls with information about appts, lab work, etc. left on her answering machine (pre-HIPPA). Her big thing was that if she was getting this woman's personal information what was the other woman getting.

DSis would get annoyed and speak to the office but understood that mistakes happened. But this other woman would yell and scream. She apparently called my Dsis one time and started screaming at her for all the mistakes. What was she supposed to do?? :confused3 DSis did find out that the woman was older (months older but still older) so whenever she would call the office she would make it a point of stating that she was the younger of the two.

There's someone in my town with my EXACT name, first, middle and last. Weird thing is, we both use the same OB/GYN. Back several years ago, I was pregnant, but lost the baby. Her baby was born a few months later. I then started getting collection calls for her saying I owed money for the delivery. Well, I finally figured out they had the wrong ** ** **. They apparently saw a ** ** ** and sent the collection agency the file. Luckily, we have different birth dates.

I, too, had a OB/GYN " name twin". Same first and last name; though slight variation in the spelling by one letter; a common error with my name. A couple of times I went to CVS to pick up prescription and be handed one with her name..sigh!
I changed pharmacies after that.
The worst was one year right before we left for Disney. I'd had a mammogram the week before and got a call from the office that it was imperative I come in; they'd found something on it. As we were leaving the next day I asked if it could wait til I come back..."no..the doctor feels you need to come in this week." I was scared out of my wits..but then she said something odd...something about the "history in my family of the disease." History? What was she talking about? No cancer history I know of.. I questioned her and she got a little snitty and said then she'll have the doctor call me back; then in the background I hear someone say.."these films don't match that patient number."
Doctor did call me back...several times; to explain they'd made an error; they'd called the other patient with the same name...then he called again to apologize and to assure me that mine was fine.
That was about 5 years ago... my doc's moved to another practice..and I followed him..I don't know if the "name twin" did BUT I just saw her name (our?) in the local paper for getting some kind of award so she's okay..they must've called her for treatment!

My friend's brother shares the same name as one of the guys from the Dateline Predator show.

Nobody has my last name. It is so uncommon. I think Ia m the last one left with it.
