Back to Wonderland with a side of French Fries-New 3/15Mix up culture w/fun

Ah Paris! YAY! This is going to be lovely.. eat crepes.. where oh where is EAT crepes?? Have you considered the catacombs? A bit macabre, but if you have seen Les Miserables.... Also a lovely neighborhood up by the church, called.... called... it will come to me something "coeur" I can't recall... It is Montmartre.... lovely place. anyhow we went there for a spell, and just walked about. Beautiful view... Basilica was gorgeous... do you know it?

These are excellent plans! Versailles, Disneyland Paris, just wonderful! :goodvibes I am only 5 4" -- can I fit in your suitcase??!! :rotfl:

Sacre Coeur...and it is very beautiful. The view of Paris at your feet is just breathtaking. There is an area before you get to the cathedral/church/whatever you call it! where artists set up and will do a sketch of you and/or your family.

We had a guy from Denmark do ours. He especially wanted to sketch Clay because he wanted to work on drawing male faces. He did an excellent job! He also did one of me and Hannah together. He sketched me first and then had her come sit on my lap to sketch her. She was two at the time and was not interested in sitting still very long. He did a good job on me but everybody says Hannah doesn't really look like herself.

There is also a very lovely carousel below the cathedral/church/whatever you call it! Here's some of my pictures of Sacre Coeur and Monmartre:

Jill, wonderful Paris pictures!

PPP, I remembered that I absolutely forgot that I meant to say that I think you ought to go to Versailles! I have never seen ist, but I think besides it being a building with a wow effect, castles like Versailles are an integral part of European history. And Versailles is the prototype for so many others. Also, I think it would give everyone a total different understanding of the French Revolution if you have seen it. I know you have seen it, but I agree that Emily would love it and I think David would find it interesting, too. And it will be a memory to keep!

I checked out the barefoot contessa btw, sounds really intersting. I think I need to do more real cooking again. :rolleyes1 I like a lot of English cook book writers, my two favourites are Nigella Lawson and Nigel Slater. And I think their style is quite similar. :goodvibes

Your Version 1 sounds completely delightful!!! I cannot wait to see all your pictures and hear about all your adventures!!

You guys are going to have such a great time!!!!

I'm so super jealous!

I want to come to French Fridays! They look so yummy and fun.

Your first itinerary version looks great. I'm green with envy, I need to make it to Paris someday. :cloud9:

Your plans sound awesome! I want to do the Ratatouille tour!! Wow- it is coming up fast, too.
I love all of your b-day gift ideas, too- the charm bracelet is such a cool idea. I saw 2 different Donney & Bourke bags (both came in different sizes & variations) at World of Disney. I almost bought one! You couldn't go wrong with either one.
I'm so excited that we get 2 TRs from you this year! :woohoo:

Your Paris itinerary looks great!! I studied French in high school and some in college so I've always wanted to go to Paris! You guys are going to have an amazing time. I can't wait to hear about your DLP plans!

Triple P...it sounds just so wonderful....I will enjoy living vicarously through the TR when you get back...my DSis went to Paris on her honeymoon...so this will be so fun to hear all about this wonderful place again through you :goodvibes

that is too cute about the Ratatoullie tour :rotfl: and can't wait to hear all about DLP too

Scrappie

Jill, wonderful Paris pictures!

Jill, beautiful pictures of Paris!!! Between you and Patricia, we will all be planning Paris trips soon! :rotfl:

Thank you ladies! :goodvibes We didn't get to spend near enough time there. Reading PPP's itinerary definitely makes me want to go back! We could see the Eifell Tower from the window of our hotel. Every morning Clay would open the window and he and Hannah would watch the trains go by. Hannah was so cute saying "Hi train!" "Bye train!"

Funny story about our Paris trip: took a picture of Moulin Rouge (sp?) and then pushed Hannah (at 2 years old) down the sidewalk in her stroller past all those "interesting" places.

Hi everyone! I'm still here and I need to respond to everyone-thanks for all the posts...:goodvibes and I have to read everyone's reports...and especially send off anyone going this week...:cool1:

Things are a teeny bit chaotic here...I am fine but I was in the ER on Thursday for chest pain...All the tests were good...the doctor thinks it was/is stress---lots of stuff going in at home/outside...everyone is ok...:goodvibes...but I do tend to hold a lot of stuff in...:confused3

Anyhow...I haven't forgotten about anyone and I'm hoping to read and update this weekend...

Glad to hear everyone is well ....:flower3: I hope you can find an outlet for your stress .... the DIS works well for that if you're up for it.

Oh my! Glad that you are OK. I was thinking about you last night and your 9th (?) French Friday.

Oh Patricia!

:grouphug:

Venting is good for the soul

I'm glad everything seems ok and even more glad you got it checked out.

I hope all is well Patricia!! Please take care of yourself! Remember, you can always come here to vent!:hug::hug::hug::hug:

I'm trying to get all caught up after our trip! Your Paris plans sound fabulous!! You guys are going to have such a good time!!!! What a memorable trip it will be!

One of these days I will get to Paris!!

Oh Patricia,

how worrying that must have been. I am relieved to hear that at least they did not find any physical reason for your pain! I think stress can create all kind of pain and I hope you will be able to solve the issues that cause the stress soon! I hope we here at the DIS don't create anymore stress for you, just take your time until your next post. There are other things in life which are much more important than keeping a PTR going!! Which isn't meant to mean that we won't miss you if you are quite! :goodvibes

Sending lots of hugs  and pixiedust pixiedust:

Yikes! PP SOOOOo sorry you were not feeling well! I hope all is okay now!

Thanks, Jill for the bit on the Sacre Coeur! I knew it was something like that, and yes, the street vendors were wonderful.

Oh No! I'm sorry you were feeling so bad you ended up in the ER! Take it easy & try to relax some.

Day 8...Tuesday (30) The Eiffel Tower and possibly the Ratatouille tour of Paris...yes believe it- I found it on line...:lmao:it begins at the Eiffel Tower, takes you to the sewers or rather the Musee des Egouts...the Sewer museum...(which is supposed to be interesting...:rolleyes1...it then takes you past the Maison Aurouze...basically the Rat Killer Shop...remember when Remy's father takes him there...apparently it's a real place...:confused3...then a little walk along some of the quai next to the Seine...remember when Linguini was going to drown Remy? and then finally ends up by La Tour d'Argent (which is the inspiration for Gusteau's...and pretty close to Notre Dame...)

What a riot! I love it!

Oh, Patricia! So sorry you had to go through that... it must have been so frightening. Feel better soon; we will be here when you are ready to post again!
