Back to Wonderland with a side of French Fries-New 3/15Mix up culture w/fun

...Hatter also just laid this little piece of info on me this morning...his parents may not go...Emily heard this and just burst out crying...she really wants them to be there...:headache:

They will probably cave if she works on them...(and Hatter said they would still pay for us...but that isn't the point...this is supposed to be a celebration...Oy, OY, OY...

...then to just add an extra dash of madness...Hatter is all perky this after and saying that since we might need three rooms...maybe he should talk his parents into buying half and half with us into DVC at the Wilderness Lodge because when you figure out the amt you'd spend on three rooms...:confused3 (& then we'd have it for a Christmas 2011 trip...)

Wow! I feel so bad for Em... hope you can work out a compromise.

You won't find me trying to talk you out of DVC! :rolleyes1 You could probably get some great resale contracts... I'm sure many people are selling b/c they need the extra cash.

Oy to the Vey!!

:lmao:

Since tomorrow will be 70 days till our Paris trip and I was going to do a little post on what I'm reading and watching in preparation for that trip tomorrow...

and there's been a bit of lunacy surrounding Em's b-day, to humor myself,...distract myself,...I've been thinking about something non-stressful...

Possible Gift Ideas for the b-day girl...

100_0319.jpg

Wow-when did that happen? where did the baby go?...

The trip itself is obviously the big gift...( not to mention getting to go to Paris earlier in the year...

Regardless of how this trip finally looks...we will be having a bday dinner and cake at the California Grill, tea at the GF and going to the Halloween party...

But 16 is a big deal and I'm thinking it would be fun to give her something each morning of the trip (6) -not like a car...:lmao: or anything nearly that extravagent... They don't all have to be big $ gifts, some can cost less and some more...but I'd like them all to be special and have a meaningful tie in in some way...

ie. I have a charm bracelet that I've collected charms on vacations that we've all gone as a family...so I have a Tower of London charm on it, a Golden Gate Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, a Mickey, etc.

-I could start her out with a bracelet like that with a Mickey charm and maybe an Eiffel tower since we'll have been there in March...(my bracelet is gold...I might get her silver)

-I was thinking about putting together a collection of 16 books that have special meaning to our family or just ones that I think represent her or ones that are classics I think she should have...

-A gift certificate to TrenD... (since it is her favorite store on Disney property)

-Alice in W pjs/robe to wear while there...if I could fine them...*they had cute ones last August in TrendD...I wish I had nabbed them...

(Since the Tim Burton Alice is coming out in March...I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of Alice merchandise...)

-Dooney and Bourke makes a Disney bag...it isn't inexpensive and I'd want to make sure it would be something she'd carry for a while...or an alternative...

-something from each Disney Resort she'll have been to at that point...WDW, DL and DLP...tshirt, pin, etc...

-Flowers

-Hmmm any ideas...:confused3

Wow, I think all your gifts are great ideas... I am not very knowledgeable in the teenage girl department -- would she enjoy a pedicure at the GF spa? With you??!! Are you doing something there already?

I think a charm bracelet is a lovely idea. My mom started one for me when I was 14, and I still wear mine. I also like the idea of the book collection. I think both of these ideas are things that she would cherish for a very long time.

Perhaps...one of those photo books they do now. you could write your own story and include photos of her growing up. or there could be sections with mom/daughter, father/daugther, and brother/sister......

Those are wonderful ideas for gifts!

I love the 16 books idea - kind of a start to her own library! :goodvibes I also think Jordan's idea of the photobook is great, kind of a condnensed memory book of her first 16 years...

Regarding the Pjs: you can order anything directly from WDW (more info on allears.net found here: http://allears.net/tp/mailorder.htm), but it's best if you know the SKU number of the item. I guess we will browse through TrenD in a bit more than two weeks time (:woohoo:) and I can look out for it and take a note of the SKU number for you. Ordering it from WDW should be easy then! :thumbsup2

I really like the charm bracelet idea and of course, the books! Such a fun idea! You know I will be borrowing ideas, right? LOL!

Wow PPP I love all those ideas but I really like the idea of the charm bracelet...you could give her a different charm each morning. I also like the idea of the books too...something very nice for her!! However all the ideas are fabulous.

I love your 16th birthday gift ideas - especially the charm bracelet. I have a charm bracelet from the surgeon I work with. All the girls in the program have one - each year we get a near gold heart. I absolutely love this bracelet, because its ever evolving.

Love all your other ideas, too.

Excellent...:goodvibes thanks I forgot all about that...she'd love it...me too...(we are going to have tea there so maybe we could combine...:thumbsup2

Those are awesome gift ideas! I saw this while doing some "window" shopping the other day and thought about you (and CP!):

Thanks I think both the bracelet and some sort of book collection are a definite go...:thumbsup2

Thanks Jordan some sort of photobook would be lovely...:goodvibes...although it would probably be tear stained from me...(there will be tears...I'm a crier...)

That French "Shepherd's Pie" looks amazing...I'm sure was too.

Thanks it was yummy...I'd send you some...but I don't think it would travel well...:lmao:

Thanks Floss...Don't make a special trip but if you do go to TrenD and see Alice Pjs...in a ladies/junior small...:rolleyes1...if you could write the SKU down and send it to me I would go ahead and order them...

I'm not sure they'll still have them... but you never know...:wizard:

I like the bracelet idea too...:lmao:...borrow away...I'll be borrowing right back from you sister....:lmao:...

Hey ME...that's very cool...how many hearts do you have...?

I got an e-mail today from booksamillion.com about new releases and saw this:

http://www.booksamillion.com/product/9780385344135?id=4604617263317?&ad=AD011210

Another book to add to the list!

...Ok I just want to let you know that 1. you are enabler...:lmao: and 2. I have to read that...:)...it sound lovely and tear worthy all at the same time...Thanks for the recommendation...

That sounds really good!!!
It really does...:goodvibes

Aw, love the pics of little Em at Disney World! Very sweet.

The gift ideas are great! I too really like the bracelet idea, that is something that I'm sure she would wear (and add to) for years to come. I just might steal this idea for myself as well. What a great souvenir/memory item!

I also like Jordan's idea of the picture book with her story of growing up. When I graduated from college my Mom put together a scrapbook of sorts with pictures of me from when I was a baby to current, she even had certificates that I got in elementary school for things like a perfect spelling test! It was really sweet and I still enjoy looking at it!

When we were just there I saw advertised several times a website where you could purchase items from the parks....I think this is it: http://www.disneystore.com/disney-parks/adult-apparel-accessories/c/71000/

Not sure if they have what you are looking for though...otherwise the method that Floss mentioned would work. Or, go there the first day of the trip and surprise her with them! ;)

I proudly wear the name "enabler"! I couldn't resist and bought it today. I read the first couple of pages while I was in the store and liked what I read. :goodvibes

I agree with so many of the ideas that have been thrown out there...the photobook...I made one from this past Disney trip and it was just as fun to make as it is to look at now....I used pictures from the recent trip as well as the past three. :goodvibes Even a photobook after the trip to document her time with her friends (maybe ;)) and family.
Love the charm bracelet idea too...I have one from when I was younger and it even has a charm of Cinderella's Castle! A charm bracelet is a wonderful keepsake.

Oh I love the bracelet idea!!!!!

The books too.

And that book link looks really good! Book enablers! :thumbsup2

Forgot to add that I bought one of the D&B bags at TrenD....love it....they also have a cute make up bag by Harvey's for Disney Couture that I may have bought too...made out of seatbelts and very cute :goodvibes
You can't go wrong with anything from that store!
