After much trepidation about whether or not we should be leaving our little girl, we threw caution to the wind and decided that Mommy and Daddy needed a vacation! Indy got about three inches of snow the night before our trip, so I awoke to a phone call at 5:45 am from the school system telling me that the schools had a two hour delay. So much for putting DD6 on the bus before leaving for the airport. I guess Grandpa will have to do it.
After Grandpa arrived, we loaded up Plankton and our bags, said our sweet goodbyes and left for the airport.
Because of the snow, we werent sure what the road conditions would be, so we made sure to leave early. Of course, there were no problems along the way and we got to the airport with plenty of time to spare. We asked (and were granted) exit row seats upon check-in at the AirTran counter! Score!
We dropped off our luggage at the scanner and made our way to the food court to grab some grub. I know that DH got some McDonalds breakfast stuff, but I dont remember if I ate anything or not. I know we shared a diet Coke though.
Even Plankton had a sip.
After walking through security (no lines at all), we got to our gate and watched the crew de-icing all the planes.
Our flight boarded and we left about five minutes early! Another score! After an uneventful flight, we arrived in sunny Orlando at just after 1:30 pm (also about 5 minutes early).
Eric went to the rental car counter to pick up the car while I went down to baggage claim to grab our luggage.
This is where the luck of the day ran out! We waited close to an hour for our luggage! There were five planeloads of people standing by the same carousel waiting for their luggage to arrive. Of course, I was standing next to a woman who had never flown before and kept asking if her flights bags were out there yet. She must have looked at the tags of fifteen different black bags before understanding that none of the bags for her flight were out there yet! Newbies
I gotta say that after this experience, Im thinking that Magical Express is a pretty good deal! Im sure we would have gotten to our hotel a lot quicker!
Anyway, after getting our luggage, we grabbed the car off the lot and headed toward WDW!
We stopped at the SuperTarget for some groceries along the way. On the way into the store, we ran into a celebrity look-a-like! We saw a man that looks just like the Crabman in My Name is Earl! It was hilarious. I only wish we could have gotten a picture of him!
In order to pay homage to ZZUB, we picked up some Pop-Tarts, along with our other supplies for the weekend.
It was at Target that we also had our first dining experience.
2 Pepperoni Italia Pizza Combos
2 Diet Cokes
Total Spent: $10.42
Review: Pretty good pizza, especially for Target. It was tasty and satisfying, probably more so because of how hungry we were! I would order it again if I were at Target and hungry. The Diet Coke was quite flat though. But we drank it because we were thirsty.
Plankton seemed to enjoy the pizza too.
From Target we drove on to WDW. As we drove under the arches, we felt that excitement that only comes with a trip to the World! Yea! We were finally here!
