Just had email from Universal it closes 30th March of if anyone has not heard.
Anyone know whats going to replace it, Last I heard was Simpsons, I hope not don't like them.

The closing down of the ride has been inevitable for a long time, there are rumours around The Simpson's but I don't think it has been officially announced yet.
A new ride is always a good thing but perhaps they could have considered a re-vamp of BTTF, haven't ridden it for many years as it makes me feel ill.

I'm sure it was originally due to close last September, so I'm not sure why they've kept it open this long. It was a great ride in its prime, but time has taken its toll, both in terms of wear and tear and of it lagging woefully behind the technologically superior newer attractions.

Oh no I'm gutted - DH hasn't ever ridden it :sad2: Last year we went to US but it was a really hot day, we all had headaches (I think jet lag caught us up) and we had 'the parents' with us so skipped it.
I have ridden it before and I love it. boo hoo
We go April 11th so looks like we will just miss out
Sarah

I had chance of riding it at Xmas, knowing it was probably closing before our Easter visit but didn't bother, it was good a few years back but well past its sell by date. I wonder if they will have something new ready for our August trip? a bit soon maybe? I guess it will depend if they re-use existing building or flatten it and start again.

I agree but I'm still sad to see it go as it was DH's favourite ride back in 1992 (our 1st visit to Orlando) and it'll always have a special place for me because of that... :thumbsup2 Do they have it at US in California?

I was surprised to see the BTTF ride was still open when we were there in the New Year, as the rumours of it closing had been going around for ages. I'll be pleased when it's replaced as it was a very uncomfortable ride and the last I heard it was going to made into a Simpsons ride too

we went last oct and rode and it is really an outdated ride now....the visual is very blurry./.......it really needs a rehab

In many ways I have mixed memories, it is a long time since I have ridden BTTF mainly because these days I find it way too jerky for my stomach to take.
I also banged my head once when I was sat in the back of one of the car's.

Having said that it used to be the first ride I used to head for and I do have a soft spot for it in some ways, I have always liked the films plus often when you arrive at Universal I really like the movie music they play, especially Huey Lewis's 'Power Of Love'.
As I said earlier I guess I would have preferred an updated version of the ride, but Universal like some of the other parks always needs freshening up with new attractions.

I've not been on it but my mother and sister did. I'm not sure they enjoyed it much. It'd be cool to hear what is replacing it.

Don't think so, was there last Oct and don't remember seeing it.

What was I thinking when I wrote this this morning? :confused3
It was the first ride we rode on arrival. Must be getting old, memory going

Aww, i'm gutted :sad1: I think all it needed was a rehab and that Universal is making a big mistake by getting rid of it. Can you tell i'm a huge BTTF fan?! ;) RIP BTTF ride!!

Gutted :(

I really love the films and wanted to do this ride. Oh well, plenty more at US to keep us occupied :teeth:

We loved this ride!!! Just glad we went on it!!!
We can remember going to Universal when they had a 'countdown' clock outside prior to its opening!!
I still miss the Psycho hotel!!! Shame!!!
Tracy
