Back To School....backpacks and lunch boxes

Both of my boys have LL Bean backpacks. They won't be getting new ones unless these bite it, which I doubt they will! I don't spend money on those kind of things unless they are necessary.

As for lunch boxes, my DS15 has been brown bagging it since he was in 6th grade. My DS11 starts 6th grade this year, and wants nothing to do with a lunch box. Brown bags all the way for him. (although his lunch box from TCP, which I bought for him in 3rd grade, is still in perfect condition)

It broke my heart this year. My DD10 has had a new backpack and lunch bag that matched from Gap every year. We got her first one when she went to preschool at 3 years old. Not this year she said she wanted a change. So today she got a plaid Jansport. It is very cute. But no matching lunch bag. I know she doesn't care about that. I really liked it when they match and hook onto the backpack. They grow up so fast. It really made me realize that she is growing up.

Has everyone checked with the schools to see if they have specific requirements this year? From what I understand, quite a few schools are going that route now..

Not sure what DGD will want (going into 7th grade this year), but she has a really nice insulated, soft-sided pack that she carries her lunch in..:goodvibes

DD is going into 2nd grade and for the last 2 years has used her Lands End backpack and lunck box. Both are still in great shape, but she wants a change. So this year she wants an orange eco Lands End backpack. There isn't a matching lunch box, so we are still looking for one of those.
