Back to My Happy Place; A Mother-Daughter Trip - Apr. 2013 Trip - And Away We Go!

Just ordered Photopass+! That's one less thing to do. Now all that's left is to book the dessert party when the time comes.

Hurrah!!!

How much does it cost and what does it include? I tried looking on line about it and I am not having much luck. Where do I need to go to get details on it?
Thanks in advance.:)

So on our first park day (the 28th) we're going to Epcot. That night, there's a 10pm Fantasmic. I'm thinking we may hop over to DHS to see Fantasmic that night instead of on our DHS day (the 29th) because the park is only open until 8:30 that day, and I'd love to get some more rides in. Has anyone ever hopped to another park just for a show? What time do you think we should leave Epcot if we want to do this?

It does sound like a good idea. If you really want to maximize your time there, then I'd probably plan on getting there around 8pm, which would mean leaving Epcot around 7:30. That way you can ride while so many other people are in the Fantasmic theatre (everything I've always heard is that the later showing is usually emptier) and see Fantasmic afterwards.

Thanks for the info! I've also heard the 10 pm show is emptier, which is better for us.

Do you know the best way to go from park to park on the buses?

We did last year. We actually were in HS, then had dinner in Epcot, and hopped back for F!

Our show, was insanely packed. I have no point of reference to compare to though..

You can walk! Oh goodness. We tried...got lost.

But take the international gateway exit. Follow the trails, go to the boardwalk area...takes you to HS!

SUPPOSEDLY its easy...

I get lost REALLY easily but my mom has a very good sense of direction and prefers to walk whenever possible, so that might be the best option for us. Thanks! I'll look for some maps and try to figure it out.

Let me know how it goes!

Does anyone else plan their outfits this far in advance? I'm something of a fashion lover, and I've already started figuring out what I'm going to wear each day. Mostly it's shorts and tops, but I have a really cute dress I'm going to wear for the day we go to CRT. I've got a couple really cute Disney tops I plan to work into the rotation too. This is one of them:

I saw it in the store and I knew I had to have it. Cute, right?

I also bought a Star Wars shirt and a Big Bad Wolf (from the Three Little Pigs Silly Symphony) shirt. They were mens shirts, but I made a few small adjustments, and voila! They're now trendy tanks!

I admit I'm rather proud of how well they turned out. It makes me more confident to do it again in the future. There are so many men's tees with great designs and they're usually tons cheaper than women's shirts.

The trip is officially paid for!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

And a few days ago my Photopass+ came in the mail! It's all coming together! The last thing I have to do is book the Tomorrowland dessert party. I want to book it for our last night, May 3rd, so I just have to wait for May dates to open up.

28 days! :cool1:

I can't believe how fast time is flying by. I'm not complaining, but it's pretty incredible. I've started to think about packing and figuring out what I've already got and what I still need to buy.

Anyone got any clever packing tips? I always tend to overpack, and I know I'm going to be bringing back plenty of souvenirs for my friends, so I want to make sure there's enough room for all of that.

I've definitely been planning out what to wear for a while now. For years, every time I go shopping I think "how would this look at Disney."

Planning what you're going to wear in advance definitely helps. I've found that if I plan out one outfit for every day, then I don't throw in as much stuff "just in case." It's still hard though. In the past, I've had to force myself to pack lighter, because of baggage rules. We would usually check one bag for 3 of us. This time we each get 1 bag going down, and 2 coming back.

If you want extra space coming back, then it may help to pack normally going down, and plan to roll your clothes on the way back.
If you can plan on checking an extra bag on the way back, you can buy a cheap duffel to put in your suitcase going down.

I read somewhere that putting ur clothes in 1 or 2 gallon ziploc baggies is great safe saver. I am going to try it haven't finished packing but so far from my DS12 it is making a lot of room.
So after you decide what u want to wear for each day put them in the ziploc for going there and then you can put the dirty clothes back in there. I liked that about it. Good luck :goodvibes

Thanks so much for the tips you guys! I love planning with you all. It makes me feel like I've got some support :grouphug:

I just booked the dessert party so I'm officially done ALL my reservations! :cool1: When I get my new credit card (mine expires at the end of this month so the new one should be getting here any time now) I'll do online check-in.

My mom told me the other day how much she's looking forward to the trip, and I can't even begin to describe how awesome that made me feel. I know she picked Disney World for my benefit, so I've been doing everything I can think of to make this trip awesome for her, so I'm thrilled that she's excited.

I was originally planning to purchase a necklace with our birthstones in it to give to her at the dessert party, but I've rethought that idea. I think she might actually appreciate something a bit more personal than birthstones. I found a tutorial online describing how to make a really gorgeous pendant out of your fingerprints, so I think I'll do that instead! It'll look something like this:

I'll use my fingerprint and my brother's fingerprint to make it. What do you think?
