Back to My Happy Place; A Mother-Daughter Trip - Apr. 2013 Trip - And Away We Go!

So I've started to think about what we should do on the day we arrive. We get in at close to 11 am, so probably we won't get to the resort until early afternoon. I figure we can unpack, explore the resort, and then head to DTD.

Has anyone ever been to DisneyQuest? I've never gone, but I figure since we get those free vouchers with our vacation package, we should maybe check it out. That's something we could do on our first night.

I want to try Wolfgang Puck Express since we'll have a snack credit for that night, and it sounds really good.

Good idea! i think we will be doing the same.

Our flight gets in at around 3-330pm so I figured that by the time we've got our bags, got through security and got our transfer we won't actually get to POR until 5:30-6pm.

We're having dinner at Boatwrights at 8pm so may head to DTD afterwards. Then again, we'll have been travelling since 8am so may just go to bed!!!

Our flight home doesn't leave until 8:30pm, so I think DisneyQuest would be better for us on departure day.

I'm thinking about trying Disney Quest on our August trip! If you decide to do that let me know what you think.

On our honeymoon we got in around 11. We went to DTD to eat lunch, shopped for a little bit, and then took a nap back at the resort before our dinner at the Grand Floridian. I always enjoy DTD and usually do it on my first day of the trip!

Also, congrats on the discount! Saving that much money is always an amazing thing!

If we do go to Disney Quest I will be sure to do a nice review of it in my TR!

I made another ADR change! I think I have a problem.

Originally, we had an ADR around 8 am for breakfast at Kona on the day we go to Universal. I realized that go to a resort for breakfast and then getting to Universal would be a big hassle so we decided doing breakfast on the day we leave made more sense.

THEN my mom took a look at the Kona menu, and although she pretends to like everything for my sake (what a sweetie), I could tell she wasn't thrilled by the options. I decided a buffet for breakfast would be more her style. So, we now have a 10 am ADR at 1900 Park Fare. The buffet options looked good, and we both love Alice in Wonderland, so I thought it'd be a good choice.

We loved the buffet at 1900 Park Fare! The characters were fun and the food was good. I think it's a great choice!

And congrats on double digits! :goodvibes

I'm going to DWD on April 26th my son who will be 12 then, my best friend's (a couple) there 3 kids, her sister and her oldest daughter and we are staying at Port Orleans riverside. We are staying until the 1st and going to Universal til the 5th.
How are you getting to Universal and back to POR?

I don't know how to start my own post. I was hoping to find people going on April 26th and discuss what they are doing while they are there.

I am older then 40 (by a little), going with my son (12), best friends (couple) their 3 kids 14,13&11, her sister and her sister's oldest 10.

Thanks for letting butt in.;)

I haven't! I kinda want to . I read about a vr game in my Disney Adventures magazine when I was little.

I'm curious if I've got a voucher now....

Hey! We haven't decided yet but we're going back and forth between a few options. We can take a taxi, or the Mears shuttle, or even rent a car for a day. We still have to choose. I can't decide which option makes the most sense for us.

Wow! Really, already???

I know, I was shocked too! Last time I didn't get my ME info until about four weeks before, and this time it's just under 3 months away. I'm certainly not complaining, I mean I'm thrilled to have it, but I was very surprised that it came this early.

All the Magic Your Way packages come with a voucher for two admissions this year I believe. It's nice for us because there's only two of us, but I think even if your party is larger you only get the two admissions. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think that's the case.

It seems pretty fun though! I love video games. My mom's not as crazy about them, but she can have fun anywhere she goes. She likes the old school games, and I heard they have some like that, so it'll be a fun little thing to do on our first night.

I popped over from the April 2013 thread. We're probably going to rent a car for our Universal day. I'm hoping that I can get a good enough deal to keep it for two or three days, but we'll see. Right now each day is coming in around $40/day, which adds up quickly.

Yeah, this is so early for ME. I hope mine comes a little early this year though, because I'm going to need to send some stuff to my sister.

I didn't know that about DisneyQuest. We're not doing a vacation package, but it would be fun to try DisneyQuest. We were going to do the WP&M option for a change this year, but instead we opted for Universal.

yup!! We have them! Going, thanks to you.:)

Yay for magical express! Since we're driving I won't be getting one, it feels weird this time not to expect that in the mail!

This is a picture of the countdown chain I made for my wall. When this picture was taken, there were, I believe, 108 links on the chain. Every day I take one off (it has the number of days left written on the inside) and pin it to my corkboard. There are now only 77 links left on the chain! Time is flying, and I hope it keeps on flying!

Also my Universal tickets came in the mail! pixiedust:

I love the countdown chain idea! Also glad you got your Universal tickets! Did you order them through Undercover Tourist, or just through Universal? I still have to order and I want to find out how long delivery will take so I know there's plenty of time to get them.

We actually got them with Airmiles because we have so many of them.
