Back now - FP+ was virtually problem-free

Just back after being in the World from January 26th through February 1st. Our Magic Bands worked perfectly for everything we needed - resort rooms, purchasing, and park entry. In fact, when we checked in to the resort, I asked if we would be receiving cards as backups to the MBs, and she said, "no, I've checked your MB and it's working fine." And it did throughout the entire trip.

Regarding FP+, I'll preface this by saying that I was never a big FPer, so take it as you will.

I found FP+ to be pretty neat, although there were a few concerns. I don't often use FP, so for me, this was more of a perk than a problem. I scheduled FP+ as I went. We arrived in the parks on Sunday afternoon, and I grabbed a few FP+ as we got into the park. What I didn't especially like is that I couldn't seem to figure out how to cancel individual FP+ experiences, so I had to take the 3 that came together, then adjust the experiences and their times as best I could. That usually worked well for the first FP, but subsequent ones were sometimes more difficult to change. It was almost like the FP system thought I was already using the experience or something, and I certainly couldn't change it while the one hour window of time was still active for the attraction I'd just ridden via FP. I normally showed up at the beginning of the one hour window, so for the rest of that hour, I couldn't change subsequent FP experiences, even if I tried changing their hours first.

But ultimately, the only ride I missed was BTMRR, and our timing didn't work out to stand in line, so I missed that ride this trip. However, as a first-timer for TT (and I'd wanted to ride that thing for years), FP was great, as was the ride. The other FP I scheduled were sort of on-the-fly, except for the morning that I had FP for the safari at AK. That worked out beautifully, although since we did rope drop, we hardly needed the FP. Our next one was for It's Tough to Be A Bug, and the person at the FP line told us that the wait was only 5 minutes, and offered that we could change our FP for something else. However, since there wasn't much else we wanted to see that needed FP, we just went in via FP. But I did appreciate her letting us know that, in an effort to better maximize our use of the system.

Weather-wise, the first three days were great with only occasional rain that quickly ended almost before it began. But Wednesday through or departure time on Saturday was cold, wet, and raw with consistent rain and cold temperatures. I felt badly for my father and stepmother, who joined us mid-way through our trip and experienced only Saturday afternoon/evening free of rain and cold before they departed from Orlando Sunday morning. It got to the point where I didn't think the rain at WDW was much worse than the tons of snow back in Chicago.

First timer at POFQ (I'd been to POR about 5 times), and I really enjoyed this resort. I had asked for a third floor room, and then close to transportation, but made it clear that the third floor room took precedence. Well, in retrospect, I should have been more about the closeness to transportation. Although it's a small resort, at the end of the day on my bum knees, the walk to Building 7 seemed long (although I'm sure it wasn't).

Like I said, for someone who rarely used FP, I found FP+ to be pretty cool. For the occasional user, it's a perk. For extremely busy times, or for those who used it all day long, it definitely will limit the experience. If you're one who goes off-peak and don't really need to rely on it, it's a fun thing to have.

Yeah....the only request I put in when we stayed at POFQ was for a corner room (I thought that would be all I'd care about). They put us on the 3rd floor of Bldg 1, in the corner room furthest from the elevator. We asked to be switched, because I knew I'd be annoyed walking ALL the way to the elevator from the bus stop, then back tracking to get to my room. We had a stroller with us, so the stairs weren't much of an option.
I've learned that I like being close to the elevator and transportation.

I'm glad FP+ worked well for you!
