Hello all.

I dont know if you remember us. We were quite active on the boards in the weeks runnning up to our holiday last Easter.

Sorry we've not been active on the boards in all the months since. No excuses really, except we have been busy selling and moving house which all started after we got back from our holiday.

Its been 14 years since we moved house and we'd forgotten how stressful it can be. We're not straight yet, but we're getting there.

Our surveyor left his glasses at home when he did our survey, because he completely missed some rather obvious cracks in the property. We've just heard that the insurance company are going to pick up the bill for the repairs to the cracks as well as the drains.. so thats a relief. We've got an informal meeting with the surveyor next week to see if he will cover our £1000 excess ??

Janet is fine and the kids are too. It seems like it was more than a year ago since we went to Florida, but it was barely more than six months ago !!

We would love to hear from anyone who remembers us.

Terry

Hi Terry and Janet - sorry to hear your move was even more stressful than normal :(. I'm assuming that the surveyor will be bringing his guide dog to your meeting - best of luck for getting your money, he jolly well should be liable for the excess if he didn't spot any problems. Or are they going to use the "carpet was covering", excuse??

Have a nice christmas, anyway:D

Hi there  I sure do :) :) :) Welcome back - it's lovely to see you posting again!
I hope you get the excess £1,000 back from the surveyor - do let us know how you get on!

Hi Terry and June

Welcome back - it's lovely to see you again :D

We moved this year too - complete nightmare and hopefully, the last time we will be doing so! Couldnt face all that again.

Good luck with reclaiming your money - keep us posted wont you :)

See you again - now you're back :D :D :D

Thanks for your kind welcome backs etc.. We enjoyed the chat last night too.

The insurance claim was a complicated scenario, the story sounds like the one about the Dog that ate the Cat, Cat that ate the rat and so on..

The building soc employed the surveyor who failed to spot the cracks etc...

The building soc was also the insurance co. who would like to have said "Oh, but the cracks were mostly old and therefore not covered and you've only just moved in and so on..."

OK, well if you dont want to settle the cracks claim, then we'll claim on the legal policy and sue the surveyor that you the Building Society employed using the Legal Policy that you the building society have sold us !

Happily, we have an agressive Structural Engineer / Loss Adjuster who somehow has managed to bang heads together and get the insurance co. to meet our claim...

BUT

We've still got the excess, hence Friday's meeting..

Hello both!

Good to see you posting again (and chatting on Sunday) :)
