Back In 1992.......

For those of you who bought at the origination of DVC back in 1992 --I am wondering something:

My husband and I took the OKW tour on a January trip to WDW . The Vacation Club van picked us up at the Swan and we went through the whole sales pitch including the ice cream sundae. At that point we also put our deposit on the credit card and headed home with our papers. AFTER returning home we decided against it( boy If only.....) We were newly married, living in an apartment and 8 thousand dollars was a lot for us. ( of corse we have been back to WDW at least once a year staying at places like Boardwalk Inn and Floridian so we spent way more than the original 8,000)

My question is--How many points were we buying for 8,000 ??? Did you have to buy more points then?? How much a point back then etc...

Again , we took the tour at BWV 3 years ago but it wasn't till 2 weeks ago that we finally commited!!

i think it was the 230 - you had already put 20% so the total was 8,832 left to be paid - assuming you got the same offer I did - the pre-construction price = because I lived in a state at the time that was not approved. So I couldn't have brought until my visit.

I know we were both crazy - I canceled too and regret - so I brought the next year when they reduced the points to 190 - but the price went up - so I don't think I save

Wow!! That was very interesting!! I still have a lot to learn!! Anyway it sure would have been nice to have my original 230 !! Instead I have only 150 and 11 years later!!

Did you notice from 7/95 @ $62.75pt to 4/2000 @ $65 pt, almost 5 years, the price only increased $2.25.

But from May/2000 to present 4/2003 (3 years) the price has gone from $65 to $84 pt......$19 increase in in 3 years.

It's sure a big difference considering price changes of $1, $1.25 and $1.50 in the earl days. Not they make no pretense and just jack the price up $4-5 pp. I would expect a price increase by or before the end of Summer, likely to $88 pp (just my guess).

And don't forget to factor in the free passes that we got through 12/31/99.

I have done the math here before, it works out just about perfectly.

We actually paid for our passes from '93-'99 and got 430 DVC points for free!

Not only that, but Disney's ROFR has probably pushed the value of my points to $70+ each. So I not only got free accomodatins for all these years, but I got an extra thirty grand for free!!!!
