Been home for a couple of hours, absolutely exhausted but had an amazing time. As per Dis custom, here are my highs and lows :surfweb:
Highs

  • My two newbie friends LOVED the Disney magic! From the first ten minutes, they were just in awe over everything, the detail, the rides - couldn't have hoped for a better reaction from them
The Sequoia Lodge - I had emailed a few days before to ask for a nice room near reception and ours was right by the door. Newly refurbished, stunning decor, robes, slippers, water, fresh flowers, chocolate coins, VIP breakfast pass and a birthday pin for my friend. Perfect!
Cast members - so many of them went out of their way to have a laugh with us that I couldn't fit them all on the Pluto form. I am going to email Disney with praise for a particular few because I think that's just as important as complaints. More details in trip report but they really made the holiday for us.
Shareholders discount and Salon Mickey, as ever. My friends loved feeling like VIPs too.
Crowds weren't bad, we didn't wait too long for anything except Crush but that's a given.
Cocktails and wine! :drinking1 Oh and meals too, no complaints at Blue Lagoon, Cafe Mickey or Annette's - will write up reviews soon.
BTM - always and forever my favourite ride! Closely followed by ToT.
    Tarzan show! Incredible!
Lows

  • Lots of refurbs - Space Mountain, RC Racer, Orbitron and Parachutes all closed, as well as upstairs in castle and the treehouse and pirate ship. A bit of a shame for my friends to miss out on all these BUT I don't see this as a real low because I am happy to see DLP working on all these things.
RnRC (50% of the time) - we went on 4 times and twice there was no music AT ALL. Its horrible without it and really annoyed us as we had waited quite a while. When this ride is on form its amazing but its so unreliable.
Panoramagique being closed when the weather seemed fine, Aimee was dying to go on it.
The "Magical Moments Festival". Oh. Dear. The inclusion of Lightning McQueen in the stunt show is cringe worthy and kills the atmosphere, not even the kids enjoyed it. The hub show is pretty dreadful and the princesses have just been shoved in at the end for no reason. And the "happenings" are impossible to actually see, and seem to have resulted in no random characters wandering around either. The only characters we met were in Cafe Mickey.
That's it! That's all the lows....so hopefully its obvious that we had an amaaaazing trip. It looks like my list of lows is long but none of those in any way spolied our enjoyment, just felt they merited an explanation!
We had such a great laugh, and in Paris as well afterwards. Full trip report to follow in the next few days with too many photos and too much detail, as ever.
EDIT to add this very important high that I can't believe I forgot - during the trip I found out I got a first class degree and Aimee found out she passed Diploma so she is officially a solicitor now! Incredible news, and very fitting to find out in DLP since the trip was to celebrate the end of uni. Made it even better!

Welcome back :goodvibes

So glad you friends loved DLP, your endless planning has paid off.

Sequoia sounds good, look forward to hearing more about it.

Congratulations on your degree :teacher: Wonderful news to get on your hols :)

Glad you had a great trip and your friends loved it - does this mean there will be a return trip for the three of you soon?

congratulations on your degree too:goodvibes

Welcome back! :wave2: Glad you had such a fantastic holiday and well done you on that degree!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Congratulations to Aimee too. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to that trip report - and remember there's no such thing as too many photos! :rotfl2:

Which email address did you use for the sl, as we are going out next week, to celebrate my 40th and my friends little girls 4th, it would be great if we could get a little something special:cutie:

Welcome back!

Really, we saw plenty of characters roaming the park on the Wednesday.
But know what you mean about the rest of the magical moments stuff, it all just seemed to be static photo opportunities. Hardly magical. :confused3

I think I saw you in Blue Lagoon on the Wednesday, when walking past to our table, but wasn't 100% sure if it was you or not.

I've replied with a bit more info in your other thread, photos should help too! Would highly recommend it, might even overtake HNY as my favourite because its so much cheaper with still such high quality. Totally surpassed my expectations.

Well Katie was already talking about Halloween :rotfl: but I sadly can't afford another trip so soon. Both of them left DLP talking about what they want to do next time, so we have two converts on our hands!

Didn't really realise until I looked at my photos that I will need the others' photos too - we all just snapped at different times so the pics are all over the place. Will start writing trippie tonight though and add photos when I get them.

We didn't see any characters roaming about the entire trip, it was bizarre. Probably just in wrong place at wrong time.
And it probably was us, we were sitting quite near the entrance and just about everyone had to walk past us! We should have been more organised and arranged to meet up properly, that was my fault I was so stressed with exams and moving before my trip :(

Glad you had a wonderful time :woohoo:

I hope you had wonderful weather.:)

looking forward to hearing more and seeing all of the pictures :surfweb:

The weather was glorious on Wednesday, and schizophrenic for the rest of the time! It would be roasting hot for 20 minutes, suddenly pour with torrential rain, then be really windy then sunny again. It was most crazy yesterday when we were sightseeing in Paris, much more sun than rain whilst in Disney. So a serious improvement on last time!

I'm so glad it was better for you :thumbsup2. I hope it will be better for us too in a couple of weeks

and congratulations on your degree party:

Welcome back, sounds like you had a great trip.

I think I'm going to have to stay at SL next time. The new rooms sound great.

I'm glad they're doing the Tarzan show again. It's a very good show and adds some badly needed entertainment to the main park.

Hard to argue with any of your negatives. The Lightning McQueen moment was a particular disappointment. It just felt like they'd shoe-horned him in. Whilst the car looks cool, it's far too slow for the 'action' scene. Just looked stupid.

We skipped the hub show. I saw it on Youtube and decided it wasn't worth seeing. I'm all in favour of tearing the stage down in all honesty.

Welcome back and good to hear you had a good trip :goodvibes
Congrats on your degree :cool1: and look forward to TR popcorn::

Congrats on your results! Sounds like you had a brilliant trip, looking forward to the TR!

Welcome back, so happy you and your friends had a great time and Congratulations on your results!! party:

Well done Lisa!!!! Delighted for you :goodvibes
Sounds like a pretty fantastic trip!!! And after reading your thoughts on the SL I wont be sad if our honeymoon budget doesnt stretch to HNY!! :goodvibes

Cant wait for your TR popcorn::

Yay!!!! Welcome back Lisa!! Congratulations on your degree (I told you you would do it!!)

Well done with the room and VIP Breakfast passes! Glad you all had such a fantastic time!

The Magical Moments Festival is sounding more and more displeasing each time I hear about it... I hope they don't take away the spontaneous character meetings, those were always my favourite.

Cannot wait for the TR and all of the fab photos!!!!! :yay:

:cheer2:

And just to be nosey.... what did the VIP breakfast passes entail?
