Hello, all!

We got back from the Yacht Club late Tuesday (I've been catching up things here so I'm just now getting this posted). We were there for 13 days. It's not our first trip, we've stayed there about 4 times now (and 3 times at the Beach Club).

First, as always, the peacefulness and the beauty of the resort were the same as always. They are renovating one wing and had huge tarps covering that entire side, so that did mar the pics a bit, but the work has to be done sometime. We had problems in the past using a debit card to check in, but this time all went smoothly. They said they've worked for a long time to get the kinks out of the system and be able to make smooth transactions from "most" banking facilities - even a little, tiny one-horse bank like ours :goodvibes .

The room was very nice, what we've come to expect. The only problem was the mousekeeping. Out of 13 days, there were only 5 days when we didn't have to call and ask for either glasses, hand soap, towels or washclothes. Almost everyday, one of those items was missing. Like with the towels, they didn't just leave too few, they didn't leave any. We found out that there were some problems with their laundry facility and they weren't able to get them all done in time to load the mousekeeping carts and since they weren't used to it, they were forgetting to take towels back to the rooms that didn't get them. I'm not sure why they kept forgetting glasses or the bags for the ice buckets, or the soap/shampoo, but they did try to be as prompt as possible when we called it to their attention.

We ended up eating at Cape May 5 nights (had scheduled 4 and added one on a stormy night). The food was really good, not as much selection as in years past, but that's been happening gradually for a couple of years. We ate at Chef Mickey's twice, Crystal Palace twice, the ESPN Club once (they have the BEST hot wings in the world!!!!), 1900 Park Fare, Nine Dragons, Mama Melrose's and went down to Planet Hollywood at DTD. Most of the meals were really good, the exception was Nine Dragons and Planet Hollywood. We've enjoyed Nine Dragons in the past, but they have changed their sauces a bit and they were very heavy and oily this time. The food at Planet Hollywood was a real disappointment, very small portions and nothing special for the price - not a good value even with the atmosphere being way cool.

One thing we noticed was that there were bugs in abundance. We've never noticed that before, but we had swarms of gnats at Fantasmic and everyone in our area was taking turns fanning them away and alternately choking down a few strays - YUCK! Near the gateway at Epcot's World Showcase, we ran into more swarms of bugs and came home with several bites on exposed arms, legs and shoulders - still not sure what type of bugs they were. And in general, we noticed various bugs, flies, etc. at bus stops, near outdoor dining tables and near benches and lights. It really seemed like they had chosen a poor way to cut costs at the expense of guests' comfort. (Yes, it was acknowledged that they weren't spraying as often as they used to.)

It was fascinating to see the building going on at Expedition Everest, it will be exciting to see it when it's done!

As for the parks, most of the rides were running like clockwork, Space Mountain was closed a couple of times we were there (once for most of the day). The castle is beautiful!!

Oh, the Noodle Station and the taco place (near Pirates, it's El Pirito something or other like that) were both closed during our stay. The taco one said it was open seasonally, not sure what that meant, they were hugely crowded the whole time we were there, seemed like a busy season.

Overall, a fantastic trip! We all came home tired but very happy and dreaming of next year already. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask away!

Happy to hear about your great vacation!

We're staying there in October, (not our first time).....what part of the hotel is under construction? We have a 6 month old, and I'm going to request a room near the main elevators, but I'm wondering where the construction is.

Disappointed to hear about all the bugs. Yuck!!

Thanks! :sunny:

Could you tell me if the buses stopped only at YC/BC or if they picked up all the Epcot resorts? I've heard both, and am curious.

I'm curious about the bus service as well. I've asked a couple of times, but it seems like the answer varies. It must depend on time of year and crowds? :confused3 I'm really hoping for good bus service, since I've always wanted to stay at YC or BC.

Most of the time we had great bus service. Granted, the only time we needed buses was for Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom (which is paired with Blizzard Beach) or Downtown Disney (paired with Typhoon Lagoon). As far as the MK bus, we were paired only with Beach Club and the Yacht Club was always picked up and dropped off first (not fair to the BC guests, but we've been on both sides of the coin). The days we went to the AK or DTD, we were picked up after the Dolphin and Swan, but before the Beach or Boardwalk. It got pretty crowded on the AK and DTD buses. The greatest thing about the location was walking into EPCOT and boating into MGM.

There were only 2 times that we waited more than 10 minutes for a bus, both times were for Magic Kingdom buses and were on days 11 and 13. Most of the time the trips were fantastic, but we rarely stayed til closing time at any of the parks (except for Fantasmic @ MGM and we waited 15 minutes for a second boat), so we didn't have to deal with "rush hour" crowds at the bus stops.

HTH!! :flower:

By any chance was your stormy night, on a Tuesday night, say August 2. We were at Epcot and I did not think it was ever going to let up.

We also experienced a large number of mosquitoes at the International Gateway area and had several bites.

Actually the cut in spraying is more an environmental thing than a cost cutting method. Guest want no bugs, environmentalists do not want them to spray.
