Back from Wonderland:wAlice,Madhatter,ChesCat&White Rabbit 11/11Thank You

The bar did look fun if you wanted to have a drink or two...:thumbsup2...I think the Comtemporary is doing a nice job at redoing their whole futuristic look into something more contemporary...modern and fun and definitely a little chic...

When we took the cruise-it was the second week they had been doing it...I believe it morphed from something they used to do for Grand Gatherings but in Disney's infinite ability to come up with charming and fun ways to part us from our money-some smart person realized they go do this for the rest of us and voila a steady income stream...;)

We did book it at 90 days out on the phone...like many Disney things-when they first start up-you can't do it on line-but I'll be that's changed...

Yes the kiddos probably got a bit more attention because they were made up...TheCms all made a fuss and when we were walking though the Contemporary-we had several families stop and ask us where they had that done...and Hook and Smee were beside themselves with excitement...very cute interactions...;)

Thanks for the information about the Cruise. I'm trying to think of something to get my cousin and her family for their trip. They usually wouldn't do something like this (probably because they don't read up on it), but I think they'd enjoy it.

I may have to visit the Wave bar after babysitting..;):rolleyes1

I needed a little pick me up so I came here...:lmao:

(after nursing my little sick babes...(actually there are some positive signs that they are on the up mend...no fevers today so hopefully we will all be in school tomorrow for at least half days if necessary and then full days on Friday...)

so like any good 11 year old (in spirit if not chronologically ...:lmao:) who gets excited about anything Disney...

We booked Alice's 16th B-day getaway from October 6th through the 11th...
(so 6 days, 5 nights...)

at the Wilderness Lodge...

and my in-laws have generously offered to pay for it...:faint:

since they are coming -they want it to be part of their gift...(they also really want to stay there (WL) and haven't been to WDW for 12 years when Alice was 3 and I think they want to see it with Rabbit too..)...

so now it's really real...:woohoo: (it was real but you know how when you book it-it becomes even more real...?...

Next year is looking like a nice travel year...Paris and DLP in March and Alice's 16th at WDW/WL...(and probably an inexpensive road trip probably to Massachusetts in the summer...)

Hmmm...so now I get to start thinking of what to do, surprises, ADRS, etc...

the only things we absolutely must do are

1. Have a really special B-Day dinner for Alice-maybe CG-they have a really great cake guy there now too...I saw a fabulous Haunted Mansion Cake on the cake thread...or there is the Mad Hatter cake they do at the GF-we could do Narcooses...

2. Attend the MNSSHP...oh yes...what bliss...I've wanted to do this for years now...(I'm going to be checking all the post Halloween sales for AiW costumes...:woohoo:)

3. Go to Fantasmic...we've never seen this somehow and thinking about doing a Brown Derby-Fantasmic package...

(we won't be doing AK this time around...sad but we've done it a lot the last several trips and since this trip will be shorter and somewhat "themed"...lol)

Ok so should I really use Back to Wonderland w/ a Side of French Fries for my PTR? or does anyone have another Idea...

I'm jazzed...I feel like I've just had three shots of espresso...

(and yes I'm excited about Paris too-it's just there isn't a Paris Boards to go commiserate on...)

& I have officially forgiven Hatter for messing with my photobucket pictures...although I still want him to help me fix it...;)

As excited as I am for your trip to Paris and your Fall Disney Trip....I am even MORE excited about a summer trip to Massachusetts!! Please, please, PLEASE tell me that this includes two things.

1. A DIS Meet with a certain someone. :rolleyes1

2. A visit to John Adams farm.

:rolleyes1 :yay:

Sorry to hear that the "help" made more work for you, but glad that the great pics showed up. And hooray for booking the sweet 16 trip!

Wow! Your IL's are paying for the trip.

Oh my oh my oh my!

Hopefully you enjoy traveling with them!

I'm glad to hear they are on the mend.

What an amazing travel year you have planned. All of it!

I too have been stalking the cake thread, I'm pretty sure you can get the mad hatter cake at CG as well. Some of those cakes are mind boggling!

There is a DLP board on here

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=77

I poked around there a bit ago when I though DLP might be in our future for '10. I did read a really fab TR though....

What a perfect description for the "vibe" there!

Sigh. You have hit on exactly why we haven't tried the Wave yet. It sounds nice. If I were going downtown at home for a night out. In looking at the menu I got the same feel, "wanna be" green...but not so much. And yet for a 1TS option/MK resort...it's on my list. Of course the "non" Disney-ishness of it may very well be welcomed by my in-laws as a respite. Assuming it makes the cut.

I do think that it is a very good value for a 1 TS restaurant no doubt... and I got the feeling that the large table of people right next to us...were looking for a respite from "Disneyness"-(since I overheard them say it to the server)...that being said if you aren't near a large city and don't have anything like it...it could be a really cool experience...not a Mickey or Princess anywhere to be seen...

Great pics, the kids look like they are really enjoying it. Although that might be Rabbit's makeup. It sounds like a LOVELY night and well worth it! Funny about Hatter and PP.

The kids did enjoy it and I think that Rabbit actually forgot about his face makeup for a bit...:lmao:that's why he looks happy...:lmao:

Oh no! I've thought about reorganizing some but the reality of relinking my pictures gives me heartburn. He meant well. I could see Jeff doing that....I actually started a shutterfly site for the family so they'd all stay out of photobucket. :rotfl:
Sigh I'm still in a bit of denial about all of that...:sad2:

We will follow that up with a monorail trip to Epcot to finish out the night eating and drinking around the World Showcase!

I think that sounds like a spectacular evening...hmmm I think I will have to file that idea away myself...;)

Ok, I'm off to research the Pirates Cruise, now. My two little sisters have birthdays right around when we are going, this time. They both love pirates, and one of them has it really bad for Peter Pan. If he shows up every time, that seals it for me. I've got to get those girls on that cruise!

They would love it...I just realized that you have a trip report...I have to come over...I can't wait I don't know anyone who lives in Alaska-have heard that it's gorgeous...but cold...;)

I think that that would be a very nice thing for Uncle Jordy to do...:goodvibes

BTW Jordan...why is it that every time you babysit...there is drinking involved afterwards...:confused3...hmmm I'm not the only one noticing this am I?

As excited as I am for your trip to Paris and your Fall Disney Trip....I am even MORE excited about a summer trip to Massachusetts!! Please, please, PLEASE tell me that this includes two things.

1. A DIS Meet with a certain someone. :rolleyes1

2. A visit to John Adams farm.

:rolleyes1 :yay:

Actually I was hoping you would catch that ....:lmao: hmmm...who could I possibly know that is a Diser and lives in Massachusetts and is possibly even more history crazy than I am...?

1. I would LOVE to have a DIS meet with you...and

2. A visit to John Adams farm is absolutely a must...and the gift store...I need a picture of Abigail-John can be in it to-for my bulletin board...:goodvibes

Sorry to hear that the "help" made more work for you, but glad that the great pics showed up. And hooray for booking the sweet 16 trip!

Thanks...I just have to pay more attention when Hatter wants to help me...

and actually booking the trip is so exciting...:cool1:

I do love my inlaws...it's hard not to because they are so concerned about us and their grandchildren...they are also generous and it is incredibly sweet/generous that they made the offer they did...

Umm...they are a little bit more set in their ways but I plan on doing a whole itinerary for them and us with overlaps in lots of places and some separate times

...because honestly I think that that will just be healthier than every one than being together 24/7- since F & W will be going on I can definitely see having them do some stuff there that we might not be able to catch -also I'm going to see if they'd like to do a behind the scenes tour...just not the Segway...;)

Oh, I caught it! I'm so freaking excited. Just don't let it be the last two weeks of August because I'm renting a cabin with my parents. :rotfl:

I actually meant to tell you that when I was at Borders last weekend there seemed to be a decent biography on Abigail. I've only seen them with her and John or about their letters but this one was just about Abigail. Too bad I promised Marc no more book buying. I'm going to the library this weekend.

Eeee! So exciting that you are coming to Massachusetts! :yay:

I have missed three updates over here!

Thank goodness you made it to the monorail before the rain hit -- that would have been disastrous to your pirates' make-up!

I :lovestruc the monorail! Everytime I ride it, I remember being a kid and going to the Magic Kingdom (and eventually Epcot) with my family!

Yes, there is always time to browse the gift shops!

Charles and I had debated trying The Wave next summer, but the menu just wasn't doing much for us. I do have to say, though, that those desserts do look fun and delicious!

The Pirate Cruise sounds like a blast, but yikes to the snack pillaging! People are so tacky sometimes!

I can't believe Hatter did that to the photos! I would have flipped out on Charles!

Woo hoo for the Wilderness Lodge, and how generous of your in-laws to pay for it! You are going to have a great 2010 with all of your adventures!!! :goodvibes

I am totally behind on all of your news but just caught the part about the fall trip! YIPPEEEEEE!
Bonus that the inlaws are paying!

I need to go back a couple of pages and read about the cruise.....

I'm a little late, but nevertheless wanted to thank you for the review of the Wave! It backed up our decision, because we had some doubts about it and you confirmed them. The concept seems really interesting, but I'm not convinced of the current result. As it will be my first time at WDW there are so many restaurants that are more tempting!!!

But we already a started a list of bars we want to have a drink at and the Wave ist definitely on it! :drinking1

Goodmorning East Coasters...if your on the West Coast-you should be sleeping...it's 4 am there....:lmao:

Oh dear, I'm going to have to make the mom "should I send him to school today" call...(Alice isn't going today-she was 101.5 F last night so that decision has been made for me...)

Rabbit feels cool...little coughing...voice is still a little off...maybe he could probably do it-but he still seems a bit lethargic...but he never left bed yesterday...and I'm feeling he should show a little bit of energy before I send him...hmmm...

I'm a stickler about school...but I'm also a worrier about health...hmmm...what to do...what to do...(I wish there was a magical thermometer device that you could use and it would tell you what to do...:confused3

Well I can still Dis while I worry....:lmao:

NO end of August...check...(probably July...:lmao:

Oh i'll be checking out the Abigail bio...:thumbsup2---and btw I've made that promise to Eric many a time...and I really and sincerely mean it...but somehow...something happens...God bless my library card also but it doesn't totally prevent my book buying...:lmao:...oh well there are much worse addictions...

Hmmm...I seem to remember something about you (& Marc) dressing up like Abigail and John...;)

The monorail makes me happy...because when you ride it-you know there is only one place you could be...

hmm...maybe people thought they could pillage because it was a Pirate's Cruise...:confused3....it was the first week when we went on it...I'm curious if they've change it...Patch & Patchy seemed to get a kick/shock out of it and tried to incorporate it into their routine...:lmao:

Yes...that was a pretty nice surprise-my inlaws picking up the tab for WL-I'm thinking we should give them nice holiday gifts this year...:lmao:

I am totally behind on all of your news but just caught the part about the fall trip! YIPPEEEEEE!

Hey Anita-The cruise was great fun...:lmao:...Yes I'm pretty excited that we are definitely going to be celebrating Alice's 16th -in her Happy Place....

Hi Nodnol...:wave2:

Happy to hear from you. You should definitely go and have a drink at the Wave and check it out...:thumbsup2 (I want to go back and try breakfast there sometime myself...)

Your list of ADRs looks fabulous-I think you will be very happy!

Personally, I would give Rabbit one more day to recuperate. ::yes::

I am going to have to go look up the details about the Pirate Cruise. :rolleyes1

I wish I could steal all your ideas for Chelsea's 13th next summer.

:lmao: I forgot about dressing up as Abigail and John. I better start working on Marc about that. :rotfl2:

I'm with you--there should be a thermometer to tell you what to do. I hate making that call... Hope both of them are feeling better soon!

Denise

I'm back on page 36, the make-over pirate update and NONE of the pictures are appearing! :sad2: It says the picture has been moved or deleted?

I REALLY want to seeeeeeeee! :goodvibes

Energy is good. Fever is one thing but I like to see some energy and appetite. It's hard to make the call when it is so fuzzy at times! I'm sure you've made the call by now...is it another day of DISing for you?

HI Patricia,

sorry the kids are sick, hope you and DH stay well! Did you keep David home today? :confused3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for the honest and good review of the Wave :thumbsup2 I printed off the menu from AllEars and jotted some notes by what you guys ordered...I would probably go w/ the Cinnamon-rubbed Grilled pork too...

the desserts look ever yummy...guess you can just go for those huh? ;)

question what time was your ADR and what day of the week was it? just curious if that made a difference to being so crowded...

If we dine there next yr, it probably would be on our arrival day which is a Friday for an early dinner.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Love the Pirates cruise, sounds like so much fun and free piratey action too pirate: (w/ the free goodies ) The character action looks great....some of my favorite character experiences over the years have been w/ Captain Hook and Smee and Peter Pan.

I think I saw Peter eyeing Alice a bit too....

so glad you didn't get rained out too!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

:yay: for booking the next WDW trip and that your in-laws are footing the bill...how fun, gotta love family huh? I kwym about once it's booked it feels real....I think I may be looking forward to December not for Christmas time but actually booking our trip finally!!!!:woohoo:

love the possible new PTR title...very clever! I hope you share all about DL in Paris...so fun!

can't wait to see what AiW costumes you can come up w/....as you may remember I bought Mae the beautiful AiW costume this past March for next yr's trip in addition to Halloween next yr. My Mom said I should try to dress all the kids as characters...Michael would be the Mad Hatter, Aldine the Queen of Hearts (not that she is nasty) and My mom thought Margaret would make the cutest mouse in the Teapot....we'll see

sorry to see your TR coming to a close soon....hope the last day is wonderful...your trip has been very magical pixiedust: IMHO.... well except for your crying moment :sad1:

lookingf orward to the end and the next PTR...

J~

Busy week and I am still so far behind, but I am half way through day 5. I love your little romantic interlude post. That was so cute. And I am really worried that you are getting ready to cry. Is this a meltdown? What is it about Epcot and meltdowns.? Fabulous pictures of the kids in all of the posts.

Is Alice feeling better????? There are so many sick kids around here right now. It's amazing. I hope she starts to feel better real soon!

Be back tomorrow to try to catch up!

Hey there, Triple P!

Those were great posts about the Pirate League and the Pirate Cruise! pirate: And Yay for the Wilderness Lodge trip; I'm so excited for you!

Can I borrow your in-laws sometime? Mine are real party-poopers....

Kathy

So I mentioned to Marc that I promised we'd dress up as John & Abigail Adams. :rolleyes1

He has a deal for you. When we come to Philadelphia he wants you to all dress up too! He mentioned Benjamin Franklin and the liberty bell but I am sure those are neogotiable. :rotfl2:
