Back From the Sheraton's Vistana Resort... any question???

What section did you stay in and how was the pool there? Also, what size villa did you have and how was it? I noticed from the map of the resort that it is rather large - was it difficult to find your way around? Sorry for so many questions but this is one of the places we are seriously considering for our trip in October and I want to be sure about it. Thanks in advance! :)

WE ARE GOING TO THE VISTANA MAY 11-18. 1ST TIME TO ORLANDO . HOW WAS IT. WHAT SECTION DO U RECOMEND WE REQUEST OUR ROOMS TO BE AT

Hey Momuv2poohs,

when are you going to Vistana? I believe you're going before I am (July 7) and I'm sure you'll give a great trip report.

2000 - Westgate Villas
2001 - Vistana Resort

Thatchi, yes, I am going before you.. I promise when I get back to give a full trip report to all of my great DIS friends.

I stayed @ The Vistana this past January and loved it! We were in a 2 bedroom unit in the Cascades section. I loved this section, great screened in balcony overlooking a lake w/ fountains. The place is huge & finding your way around can be tricky at first. My family loved this place; we've already made reservations for next January. HTH

crusoe2, I almost forgot. You asked about room sizes. We had 6 adults in the 2 bedroom unit & were not cramped at all. Very spacious. The only problem was figuring out who got the master beddoom with the big jacuzzi tub. Mom & Dad wound up snagging that one. LOL

Am I right in assuming that if a room will hold 8 people, will the cookware that they have be big enough to cook for 8 people? For example, if I wanted to cook a big pot of spaghetti one night, could I?
Thanks!
Carol :D

Cooking big meals shouldn't be a problem. We were able to make lasagna, a huge pot of french onion soup, & chicken cordon bleu. If you need additional cooking supplies, pots, pans, etc. call the front desk they were able to bring up any extras we needed.

This place sounds very nice - I went into the website -- looks good. I have reservations at the Wyndham Palace in a one-bedroom suite (800 sf), but I'm thinking of changing to the two-bedroom at Vistana. Vistana would $40 a day cheaper.

Any opinions?

Thanks!!

Thanks for replying LynnB. I wonder what has happened to tense?
Carol

LynnB, where is the "list" that you are suppose to check off when you get there to see what is suppose to be in the unit? I am going shortly and I can not wait!!

SOOOO... Verrryyy sorry... I had health problems with my father... I didn't mean to hold any one up on their questions.. ANYWAY.. The Vistana is HUGE.. however once in a section.. unless you like to explore you don't need to go to far from your hotel room. We stayed in the Cascades section. I would recomend this section. It is one of the newer ones. Some of the other sections are older and look like apartments to me. I must say the room (s) we had were very nice. I usually stay on prpery, and this did spoil us. We had a 2 bedroom suite. Clean well appoited. The master suite is a good size with a Kaddozie as my youngest would say! and a sink on the outside of the bath room and a shower and a sink in the bath room. There was 2 double beds in the 2nd bedroom(not as large as the master) with a connecting door to the 2nd full bath. WOW was that nice! 2 bathrooms. It had a fully equiped kitchen with a toaster oven, microwave, blender, and utencils, pots/pans and a service for eight. The Dining room table sat 6 however, but 2 could sit at the counter facing the kitchen on the barstools. The living room had 1 pull out couch and 2 chairs. The balcony was screen in with a ceiling fan and lights, also a table and 4 chairs. The balcony opens to the living room and to the master bedroom.I must say, by staying ther with 3 kids and 3 adults we had enough room. I would think any more than that might be a bit COZY! We saved alot of money by eating a relaxed breakfast in the room, got outalot quicker with the 2 baths and everyone seemed more relaxed. I love staying on property for the Disneyesque atmosphere. But when you relize that you can stay up and watch tv or anything else and the kids are in the other bedroom... it's pretty nice. The grounds are nice in the Cascades section. The pool is large and tended to be crowded, a short walk to the Super pool there were more adults there and more space. Most of the pools had bars. It was a good value concidering the size of the rooms.I don't know how helpful this was. I'll be glad to answer anyone questions. I was very close to Downtown Disney. I think it is a great location.I did not use the transportation, and I didn't eat in the restaurants.(although I was told by someone who worked there that they weren't very good) They did try to get me to go to a 90 min sales pitch... but I declined and that was the end of it.So... I hope this info helps
