Back from the MS specialist

What a great visit! He actually listened to me!

If you remember I went to see a neuro after I started dropping things. He said I had carpel tunnel syndrome because of my thyroid. Um, right.....
So when I tried to tell him other things going on he just poo-poo'd me.

I got proactive and got in to see this MS neuro. Guess what....I don't have carpel tunnel syndrome. I'm shocked (yeah, right).

They did an emg and it was fine. I spent 2 hours with this DR. He listened, we went over things and he does feel there is something going on, we just have to figure it out.

So, when I get back from vacation I'll have a few more tests done and see what those reveal and if needed, the dreaded spinal tap. Hopefull we won't need that.

He also said it would be fine to go ahead and start using a cane if I will feel more secure with one. He just warned me to be careful because alot of people trip over them in the beginning. LOL...that will be me!

So, even though this may turn out to be bad, you can't imagine how good I feel. Sounds weird I know, but not having any answers or being taken seriously for 7 years is a hard thing to go through!

phors--I remember your previous post about this and had been wondering how you were doing and if you had any more info. Glad to hear you have a Dr who is taking you seriously and trying to puzzle it out. Good for you for being proactive.

It's such a wondeful feeling when you find a doctor that wants to listen to you and actually cares about how you feel and what you're going through.

I will keep you in my prayers that things turn out OK for you. You have a great attitude about what's going on and that's such a big part of anything you have to deal with in life.

Good to hear you've finally got someone on your side.

I have MS and man, what insanity I went through trying to get the right diagnosis. Neurological stuff seems to confound doctors - it's like they're either intrigued to the point that you feel like a guinea pig, or they don't want to touch you with a ten foot pole.

They'll get you figured out - hang in there.

I am so glad you finally found a doc willing to listen to you! My mom's best friend was diagnosed with MS last year. She put off that spinal tap forever, and it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. She is now doing so much better on the right meds.

It is hard finding a doc to listen to you - for years you think you are crazy. I went round & round to all the gastros in town, then down to Lahey Clinic in Burlington who screwed me up more than helped. Finally after about 6 years of this, I took my behind into Beth Israel in Boston. I sat with this new doc for about 5 mins. and he looked at me and said he knew exactly what was wrong. Just like that! So, I know exactly what you feel like having this neuro finally listen to you!
