Back from the Fort! Trip Report begins post #7!

Okay, after Wednesday night church, teaching preschool, going to college, and dealing with a nauseous three year old, I think that I'm finally ready to move on to Thursday! :goodvibes

With Thursday comes MNSSHP! We didn't do a whole lot Thursday morning. DH cooked breakfast. We were going to do some brief resort hopping (Contemporary and Poly), so we caught the boat to the CR. No sooner than we entered the gift shop, DD announced that she had to potty. I told DH to go find the bathroom and I'd catch up in just a second. A minute or two later I catch up to them outside the bathroom...just as DD is peeing in the floor. :headache: Okay, so maybe I should have taken her immediately, but she HAS been potty trained for over a year and this was the first mention of needing to use the potty. Guess all the excitement was getting to her and she didn't say anything until the last minute. Lesson learned. Back to the campground. I did use a plastic shopping bag for her to sit on so she didn't get anything on the seats on the boat.

By the time we got to the campground, she was tired. Once she was changed, she crawled up in bed for a nap. DH fixed lunch -our version of southern smothered hot dogs. They were pretty yummy.

After lunch, we got DD dressed into her Jesse costume and we were on our way. Our plan was to do non-MNSSHP activities before 7pm, then concentrate on rides/characters/trick-or-treating that was available from 7-12.

I've read in a lot of places that there is a LOT to do at the parties. I completely underestimated how long it would take to do some things (namely waiting in line to see the Fairies). DH had a really good time. He just enjoyed the ambiance. I felt that while it was nice, we spent a lot of time and didn't get a lot of stuff done. We'll probably do it again, but not for at least a few more years.

My camera battery was almost nothing, so we relied a lot on photopass (had a prepaid cd). Here are some of the pics that I took prior to 7.

Our first stop was Mickey and Minnie's houses since they may or may not be there on our next trip. Next was off to Frontierland for Country Bear Jamboree. DD had been wanting to see it ever since watching the country bears on the campground video. Halfway through, she decided that she'd seen enough. After it was over, we headed to Adventureland for the Jungle Cruise. DH had never seen the Tiki room, so that was our next stop. DD really enjoyed it. Me...well...I now know why I haven't seen it since the early 90's. ;)

I'll get into the actual party in the next post.

Your daughter is adorable! Great TR. Looking forward to your MNSSHP pics. This time next week, we will be there....I can't wait!

The line for the princesses wasn't too bad. DH took pictures of Cinderella and Aurora, but we didn't get any pictures of Snow White and her prince, although there is an awesome photopass picture of DD hugging Snow White. :cloud9:

Back in line for the fairies. We waited for an HOUR!

After we saw the fairies (and had some wonderful interactions even if DD wouldn't talk to them), we headed for Pecos Bill's Cafe. We eat there every time we got to the MK, and according to the map, they closed at 9, so we had to hurry. Turns out, the map lied. They were actually open later (found that out as my brother and his family were eating there around 10:30). Oops.

After eating, we swung by the dance party with Woody, Jesse, and Bullseye at DHR. DD loved it...until she got up close. She's not big on the masked characters, to say the least.
106_3365.jpg

I think at that point, we left to go get seats for Hallowishes! We found some good seats on Main Street next to a mom and her DD (early teenager), who was also dressed as Jesse. DD wasn't a fan of the fireworks. To be honest, she wasn't a fan of much this trip. She seemed to be scared of everything, whereas last year, she wasn't scared of anything. Anyway, while I sat down with DD during the fireworks, DH was able to get some decent pictures.

We walked over to Liberty Square after the fireworks to catch the parade. While waiting DH bought some caramel popcorn in a tub. For some reason, I love collecting those popcorn tubs! A picture while waiting:

Anyway, we waited for the elusive headless horseman. I had heard that he reared up right before the bridge, but he didn't this time. He did, however slow down a lot, so I was able to get a fairly decent picture.

After that, my camera died. We rode Dumbo after the parade, then caught up with my brother and his family and rode POTC. Stopped for a few pictures, then rode Magic Carpets of Aladdin.

By the time we made it back to Main Street, if was 12:15. From what I remembered, the Emporium was open for about 30 minutes to an hour after close. Guess not during party nights. All the shops were already locked. No MNSSHP exclusives for me. Oh, well. The Mouse got enough of my money, anyway.

By the time we made it back to the campsite, I was VERY happy to see our bed. :)

Next post: Resort hopping, TCD, and DTD.

YODAGIRL, Great TR, I'm really enjoying it. Looks like fun was had by all.

Thanks for sharing!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Not a whole lot happened Friday. Once we finally left the site, we headed for TCD. Last year, we were going to let her ride a pony, but due to the May Monsoon, it was a bit wet, so we decided to do it this year.

We took DD to see the ponies, and she decided that she would NOT ride a pony. She was scared. Maybe next time.

Got a picture of her with the calliope. Once again, she's wearing one of my old shirts...
106_3400.jpg

Next stop, the beach and a stop at the lawnmower tree. I have mixed feelings about the way it looks now. I guess it's nice that it's still there, but I'm kinda sad about the way it looks.

I'm really not sure what order we did things, so here are a few random pics from Friday:

Then off to DTD:

While at DTD, we went to Once Upon a Toy, where I stuffed a box full of Mr. Potato Head parts. It's amazing what all you can stuff in that box!

Lunch was at Earl of Sandwich. We had the holiday sandwich (turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, etc)
Photo0307.jpg

After DTD, we headed for the Animal Kingdom Lodge. My camera, of course, was dead, and my cell phone doesn't take very good pictures in low light, so the pictures from there aren't very good.

DD was chosen to take place in a parade around the lobby. It was pretty cool. She got to play a drum with a bunch of other kids, and a native of South Africa gave them a fairly entertaining lesson in Africa. She also got a magical moments certificate.

After the parade, it was back to the campground. We swung by the Meadows Trading Post for some Mickey Premium Bars. Where other than WDW would you get to eat ice cream at 9:30 at night? :goodvibes

DD enjoying her ice cream:
Photo0320.jpg

While we were enjoying the ice cream, we had a run in with some neighbor kids. The two sites across from us were filled with a large amount of campers who were definitely having a good time. So were their kids...who were playing flashlight tag...which involved running through our site. At first, they just ran around the edges, which I let slide a couple of times, but when they started running through our site, I turned on my teacher voice. :cutie:

We finished our ice cream, then it was bedtime.

Next post: Departure day :(

Hi YodaGirl:wave2:

I am LOVING your TR - Thanks for posting!

I have a question for you - did you have an a/c in your tent? I think you mentioned your DD napping and I was wondering how that went. I also see that you guys were wearing jeans .... I'm having serious weather confusion! We will be there 10/31-11/5 and I was only planning to bring shorts. Also an a/c ... but I'm not sure if we'll need it :confused3

Glad that you're enjoying it!

We didn't have a/c. We did bring a fan and a small heater since I was unsure about the weather, myself. We actually ended up running the heater (small, plastic space heater) at night. I don't think that we ever used the fan.

We took the rain fly off of the tent to let air circulate while DD napped. Between the breeze and the shade from the site, she was fine.

We did put DD in shorts (except for one day), and DH wore shorts one day, but the rest of the time we did wear jeans. Personally, I don't tend to wear shorts. Trust me - NO one wants to see that! :rotfl: It was warm during the day and cooler at night. The only time that we were very cold was waiting for the EWP. It was a little chilly, but the air off of Bay Lake made it feel much colder.

From what I gathered, FL weather seems to be a bit fickle around this time of year. I spoke to a lady while we were in line to see the princesses who said that last year at this time it was 93.

Late to the party...AGAIN!!!! Ughhh!

And to think I've been watching and waiting for your TR....still nearly missed it! :sad2:

You're doing a great job! Since there's too much I'd like to reply to, I'll just say this:

Love the vintage Tees! Your DD is adorable in them! Wish I still had mine. (I do have a couple of hats though.)

Sorry about your camera, but it looks like you got plenty of great pics anyway.

Looking forward to more......:goodvibes

I thought I was hungry for the GAG......then I saw your pic of the Mickey waffles. I'm so conflicted (and jealous).

By any chance, was this the large group full of young teenagers that was camping in that large tent area (can't remember what it's called) just past the 2000 loop? If so, Camping Christy and I had a lot of trouble with them Friday night! They were playing flashlight tag all around the 900 loop and were extremely loud and annoying. They kept running and screaming not 5 feet from our picnic table that we were trying to eat at. We actually complained to the manager, then later we complained to security, and then again around 11:30 my son-in-law complained to the front desk again. I talked to the manager again the next day and while I was talking to her, another man came over saying that the kids had kept his wife awake until after 2 in the morning. Needless to say, something was said to the group and they were a lot quieter the next night.

What a wonderful buncha pictures ! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
it certainly looks like ya'll hada grand time,,specially your little one :goodvibes

Hope ya got more coming ? Maybe some fishy pics ?

(just kidd'n,,you already told me ya'll couldn't fish this trip,,

These kids were preteen age, so probably not. My brother did bust a teenage boy and girl in the laundry room in the 800 loop on Friday night, though...

We did see security looping quite a bit on Friday night/Saturday morning.

Hate that ya'll had some loud kids, too. Glad that they were quieter the next night, though.

We did have a really good time. She's still talking about it. :goodvibes

I've got a few more pics coming when I post Saturday's departure day. Hopefully I'll be able to get to that later on this evening. :)

I bet it was them. My daughter just informed me that they were preteens, not teenagers. I'm such a bad judge of age! We hated to complain, but they were just awful. They refused to move out of the way if there was a golf cart coming. We would say "Excuse me," in case they didn't hear the golf cart coming and they would look back at us and not move. There was one boy on a bike that almost got hit by the golf cart twice...he thought it was funny to go flying right in front of us as we would drive through the loop. Thank goodness we drive slow!!! I've never experienced anything like this at the Fort before!

Sounds like it was them. They were pretty bad. I understand that their parents were enjoying their adult beverages, but they still needed to watch the kids. ONE parent said something to ONE kid...and there were SEVERAL kids.

I can't believe I'm just now seeing this - I'm with KFK, been waiting for a report and somehow almost missed it!
Your daughter is so freakin' cute I can't stand it - I just love her little facial expressions! I didn't realize our DDs were so close in age - my DD will be 3 next month.
I love your report - and hats off to your mom on the tickets!!! That's the most expensive part of these trips!:thumbsup2

I am behind on my comments and observations:

1. That YodaGirl version of the SSHD looks pretty good. What do you have on there?

2. Love the Jesse costume!

3. When I saw this photo, I did a double-take:

I thought that Mr. YodaGirl was the prince in this photo, and that he was wearing tights. But, now I see that this is just Sleeping Beauty's prince. So, no further comment is required.

4. Your Headless Horseman photo from the parade is one of the best that I have seen. Good job on that one! :thumbsup2

5. I always get the holiday turkey sandwich at EOS too. That is a great sandwich!

Looking forward to more!

TCD

Sorry, but I forgot to post one of my observations.

You took a photo of this pirate at your MNSSHP:

I think I got a photo of the same one:

FWOctober2010119.jpg

I wonder what this fellow does when he is not a pirate in the parade?

He sure makes a good pirate.
