Big Hugs............ Wendy

Oh Amy! I'm so excited for you that you finally got to go to DW. We have only been to DW and would like to go to DL sometime. My DH has been there, but at such a young age, he only remembers coming out of the butt of the whale on the Pinnochio ride. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: Sorry to be posting so late, but we've been on vacation this past week. Just got in today from a long drive home from Allentown PA. We love all the hard work you did to make your vacation special and will have to keep a link to this thread for help remembering some of your ideas. Hope your rested. Have a blessed day. :goodvibes:)

I am so glad you both found this post. I wanted you to know that we used and LOVED the Scrabble designs you made for us. Thank you again!

You are a true artist. :worship: Thanks for taking the time to share your great idea's. Do you have a link for the mints (directions/grafics)?

The mint idea came from Telynn. Here is a link to her 4shared account. They are under candy wrappers>mint matchbooks. She is not designing right now but you could probably use lots of her designs 'as is'.

Oh WOW Amy!! All your projects look fantastic!
Really enjoying your wee trippie! I'm in the middle of writing mine from Nov/Dec over on a British Disney Forum just now but I had thought about putting it on over here too! Mines is really long so far though!LOL
I hope you keep writing I love hearing about everyone's experiences!

Stay tuned...

I'm loving it Amy!:cool1: What did you do the next day? :confused3

Hi Kari! Day 3 to follow!

Thanks! Can't wait to try!:cool1:

They are easy after you figure out which side to print on - ha ha! My directions were not clear (in fact, I think they were printed incorrectly) and I goofed up several but after I got the hang of it - they were easy!

Lovin' your report! So cool that you saw your designs and Natalies! We never ended up making the CM thank you candys last year ... I think that may be a must project this year!

We also saw one of Dom13's Star Wars designs, Natalie's Epcot passport and thought we even saw one of Veronica's Mickey Head designs but I wasn't sure as we were walking by the person/shirt pretty quickly.

Can't wait to hear more!!!!!
We did Thank You Cards last trip and the CM's really seemed to like them. DD LOVED giving them!!!

This is our second time giving away the mints and (as you said) it is just as much a joy for the kids as it is for the CM's.

Wendy, Thanks for joining in on the party!

Amy,
Everything seems like you had wonderful time so far, waiting to read more :)

See my response above. I believe I may have seen one of your Mickey head designs while in WDW. We were in Hollywood Studios and the Mickey head had a cartton R2D2 next to it and I think it said "Hattie". I know I saw that on the boards but am unsure if that is truly what this one said. I am so curious if the person who requested that was there on May 30th.

Thank you all for letting me know you are reading and enjoying my little report. It is so nice to be able to share it with you all.

May 29th - Epcot, Coral Reef Restaurant and Hoop Dee Doo Review

We got out bright and early and were to the gates about a half hour or more before opening. As we stood in line waiting to be admitted and just minutes before they opened the turnstyles - my son yelled very loudly as he begun to cry that he had been stung by a bee. Luckily the people behind us thought much quicker than I did and immediately gave us a handful of ice out of their cups to put on his leg. We then made sure we knew where the first aid station was and as soon as the turnstyles opened we headed in that direction. By the time we got through the turnstyles, my son decided that it hurt too much to walk so my brave hubby picked him up and carried his 65 lb. body all the way to the first aid station. When we were almost to the rope drop I figured that there was no way we could wait patiently so explained the situation to a neighboring Cast Member and she wisked us past the rope drop and escourted us to the First Aid Station and then left when she knew we were being taken care of. The nurse was very friendly and had us on our way in no time. (and yes, my daughter gave both the cast member and the nurse a Thanks A Mint!) As we left the First Aid station and were heading to Test Track the original Cast member found and approached us. She said she was very sorry what happened, had to check with her boss and wanted to offer us a fast pass of our choice. So since we were not going to be going on Soarin', she said our best bet would be to use it for Test Track - which we did. She was very kind and we were very thankful.

We then had to stop and visit with the squirrel - did I already mention my daughter and any living thing? We, of course, did not feed it but the kids loved that it would actually come around us and not run away.

After the squirrel, the kids and I rode Mission Space - the calm version. We liked the ride and after going on it, I knew it would be OK for hubby. There was practically no wait for the calm version, so we got hubby and went a second time. Then after Mission Space, we got another fastpass for Test Track for later and used our 'Cast Member' fastpass to ride it then. We all thought it was very fun but hubby thought it was a little bit much for him. Once was enough.

After Test Track, we went over and explored the Fairy Garden and Butterfly Garden. We breezed through the Fairy Garden but spent a LONG time in the Butterfly Garden. I had to practically drag my daughter out of there. She did not want to leave until one landed on her but it just never happened.

Then we headed to Coral Reef for lunch. We had one of the first seatings at 11:35 and were able to request seats right by the aquarium. We all really enjoyed being that close to all the sealife - especially when my kids turned around just in time to see a huge shark right by the glass - they nearly fell off their chairs in fear and then laughter. Very fun! The food was so delicous and the desserts were yummy too.

We thought we were headed to the World Showcase after lunch but by the time we were done lunch, it was raining pretty good. Instead of putting on our rain ponchos we just ducked into The Seas with Nemo and Friends and then spent lots of time looking at all the aquariums, dolphins, sharks, manatees, etc... (Was all that in the same building?) We were even lucky enough to be right on time for a presentation on the Manatees.

By the time we left the area, we headed again to the World Showcase area. On our way, we got a little sidetracked and went into Club Cool. After all I had heard, we had to stop in and sample all the varieties. We all tried all of them - later I found out my son wimped out and never tried Beverly - our favorite was China (the watermelon one). My hubby even said to the CM that they should totally "sell this in the US". I am sure they hear that all day. We stopped in Innoventions to get a Kim Possible pass on our way as well.

Finally off to peruse the countries. We started in Canada because somehow it looked closer to where we were when I looked on the map. The kids got their Canada page stamped and signed and we saw the Canada show. Wow, Canada is a beautiful place. I will have to visit there someday.

After wandering around Canada, I realized that the Kim Possible thing was on the other side so we then decided we better start in Mexico. We went on the Three Cabelleros ride - which was fun. Off to Norway for the kids passports and the Maelstrom ride - then the kids were in quite a hurry to go pick up our Kim Possible 'phone'. The CM gave us Mexico so we were off back to Mexico. The 'phone' wasn't working so we had to go back and get a second one. This time we asked for something a little further up so we could at least continue around. She nicely gave us China since it was next on our list. The Kim Possible thing was very fun but I would suggest getting a phone for each child (even if it is doing the same country/tasks) so that they can both activate the clues themselves. Mine did pretty well sharing but it was hard to "take turns". The kids got their stamp between clues but we would need to start with China to finish on our next Epcot day.

At this point it was 6:00 pm and we were going to head to use our Test Track fast passes and then head out for Hoop Dee Doo which was at 7:15. I thought a little over an hour was plenty of time to get there. Then I realized that they had told me they would be seating 1/2 before. So we panicked a little and decided we better ditch Test Track for a second time and hurry for the bus.

We got to Hoop Dee Doo with plenty of time to spare since they did not seat us until about 7:00 or after. I would have to say that my words can not do this show justice. I would say that this was probably one of the biggest highlights of the trip. It was very fun and extremely funny! We all laughed ourselves silly. I loved when they brought the food out and all you could hear was the tin slamming. The kids still know certain lines from the show and laugh just repeating them. "Oh My Darling - Frankenstein!" They, of course, loved playing the washboard at the end and we were very fortunate to have one of the Cast pose for a picture with my kiddies. Again, one of our favorite memories!

Oh Amy! What ashame about your DS being stung! Glad he was ok though!

The boys are looking forward to trying out the new Kim Possible Mission attraction next year sounds like fun!

I'm glad you enjoyed the Hoop de do - we are thinking about trying this next year too!

ANother fab day hun!

Amy,

Sounds like so much fun. I want to go to Hoop Dee Doo! Thanks for all the juicy details!:thumbsup2

Sounds like your Epcot day started off rocky but ended up great. We rushed through the world showcase when we went to Epcot and we missed so much. Next time I want to do Kim Possible too and take our time seeing the different countries. Glad you enjoyed Canada.....we did too even though we live in Canada. Yes you will have to come and visit my great country! Canada is an awesome country but I am biased.

We leave in 9 days & I am devouring your report and having so much fun doing so. I hadn't done the "mints" but after seeing what you wrote, I am now cutting out and putting little mints. DH thinks I have completely gone over the edge. :scared1: Between the autograph books, the t-shirts, the scrapbooking pages and the passports I really didn't need another project, but so be it, I have one. :confused3:lmao::banana:
I am enjoying your report and look forward to the next installment. :goodvibesPenny

Disney CM's are really wonderful.........aren't they! Sounds like you had a great day in Epcot! I love the fact that you guys just seemed to enjoy the day as it came to you. The whole "stop and smell the roses" approach really makes everything so much more relaxed and fun (IMHO!!).

Erin really wants to try to the Kim Possible Adventure.
About how long did it take? We're thinking about taking an evening to do this, just she and I.

Can't wait to hear more!!!!!

We made a baking soda paste at the hotel that night (thanks to the manager in the dining room) and had to apply liquid Benedryl the next day for a slight rash he got on his arms but overall, he was fine and he did not let it stop him/us from enjoying our trip.

Amy,

Day 4 coming...

After actually picking up the 'phone' - the adventure does not take very long. I think maybe an hour at the most. The adventure they give you is in one country (not numerous countries, as I had thought) so it doesn't take too long. I think you can get one 'phone' for every ticket if you wish (be sure to ask in Innoventions when you get the fast pass ticket thing). So maybe you could get a different country for each of you then work together on one then the other.

May 30 - Hollywood Studios - Sci Fi Dine In - Hotel Pool

We got to Hollywood Studios shortly before they opened the turnstyles. We enjoyed seeing the Storm Troopers on the roof. Very entertaining as we waited.

As we entered the park, we headed towards Rock N Roller Coaster. My daughter and I stood in the fast pass line and my hubby and son stood in the standby line. We rode the ride and saved the fast pass for later. We all absolutely loved the ride - very fast, very fun! Crazy as it sounds, one of our favorite parts of the queue was the marbles in the door. Very creative and felt so cool to run your hand down it.

After the ride, we stopped to take some pictures with the guitar with no one in the background (thanks to a kind stranger). Then we headed to Toy Story Mania to grab fast passes for later.

My daughter really wanted to try out for American Idol (as did my hubby). I knew by reading the map that at 12 was she was too young but hubby wanted to at least try out. We went to the audition area around 10:30 am. The CM said that although my daughter could not try out, she could go back with hubby for his audition. They told me it would be about 10 or 20 minutes, so DS and I decided to leave and come back.

We had seen a line for both Darth Goofy and Storm Trooper Donald close by so we got in line. The line took quite some time and by the time we made it to the front it was Princess Leia Minnie (DS was not thrilled). It took a little convincing but he agreed to get his picture done with her if I was in the picture as well. I was good with that. I should also say that as we were in line, we saw someone else wearing one of DOM13's Star Wars designs. The person was too far from where we were to approach them but very cool!

By now, my hubby called me to say that he made it to the next level of auditions and would still be awhile longer. DS and I went on The Great Movie Ride. We loved some of the special effects. Especially when the gangster tried to steal the Indiana Jones gems. I won't give anything away.

By the time we got off the ride, hubby called saying that he had made it and would be out soon. DS and I sat behind the building at the tables to wait. As we were waiting, we kept hearing screaming. I looked over and hubby was standing on the small wall with all of his screaming fans. They were doing some mock filming for the days show. As we walked over, the camera guy wanted to do a family thing - so he had us stand in front of the American Idol backdrop and dance. Boy was I embarrased, but whatever - I'll never see these people again and I know my hubby was in hog heaven.

Luckily, hubby got done at about 11:50, just in time for our 12:05 lunch at Sci Fi. Good thing it was right there.

More on Day 4 later...

Wow, your projects turned out great!

I love the window clings. How did you make them? Is there special window cling material you can buy?

WOW! WOW! WOW!

No wonder you were not doing DISigns for a while...the things you produced were BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I am enjoying your trip report too!

See post #54 for supplies. After obtaining the supplies, you simply print your design to the sheets. (The design does need to be reversed first). Then I sprayed them so the background was white instead of clear. You are spraying on the non-sticky side which makes the design un-visible until placed on the window.

Yes, I needed quite some time to get everything ready. I knew I could not do all of my projects and design without stressing myself out. So taking a break was the way to go.

Rest of Day 4 coming next...

Wow sounds like your DH enjoyed AI :)

That is quite the understatement!

So, I left off with hubby just getting let out of the American Idol audition phase and us heading out to lunch. For the American Idol thing, they had pinned an audition number to hubby's shirt and gave him a lanyard thing with a large badge that said "Vote for Me". I guess he was supposed to campaign for votes while wandering around the park. He had a ball with this. He would say just loud enough for everyone to hear "Vote for me, 4:00 show, #2" He did this repeatedly, more or less to drive us crazy.

We got to Sci Fi and checked in and he was already campaining in the lobby. He was on cloud 9. We got seated in our car and shortly after had some hitchhikers. There was a very nice couple celebrating her birthday. We enjoyed visiting with them and they very nicely took a group shot of us in our car. We all had shakes to drink (it counted as a beverage on the dining plan) and ordered our food. The kids loved the movies and loved hearing the "purple people eater" and "glob" songs. Lunch was delicous and we all really liked the theming. My son kept saying "Mom, you need to go to the snack bar". He thought they were being serious on the screen. Very cute!

From lunch we went to Toy Story Mania to use our fast passes. We have done this in California but it is always a family favorite. Then we went to the Studio Backlot tour. Hubby would say to the buses leaving before us "Vote for me". Everyone would laugh and ask him which show. It was funny. We really liked the tour - especially the Herbie car in half, Mulan's horse and the Narnia stuff in the cages. Our favorite was the "scene". Where the tram shakes and the flowing water and fire.

Hubby had to be back to American Idol by 2:50 for makeup and rehearsal - did I say this is a total production! So after the backlot tour, we rushed to get him there on time. Since they had told us to be back by 3:30, we didn't have much time so we hung out by the Chinese Theatre checking out all the celebrity hand prints. Then the Block Party Bash was coming. We headed up to the platform of American Idol where we needed to check in. They let us stay just inside the gates and watch the Block Party Bash from there. (since we have seen this is California it was not a must do for us but we couldn't beat the spot) As the parade ended, we noticed Warwick Davis (he was Wicket, the lead Ewok in Star Wars as well as other things). As they put us in the VIP holding area, Warwick Davis and his family were waiting in the same area. There were probably only about 10 or 15 people in this area. I tossed it around in my head for awhile but finally had to say something. I first told him my hubby was in the show and that he should vote for #2. Then said "I know you hear it all the time but could I get a picture of you with my children?" He very nicely said "yes". My children loved the fact that we saw a celebrity.

The American Idol show was very neat. It made it even more exciting to see my hubby on stage. I knew it was his dream come true and that made me happy. They had done this cute mock up movie of him getting chosen - he burst out of the door and flung my DD around, they showed him with his "fans", a bit on how he loved Kelly Clarkson and hubby's words kinda narrating part of it. My favorite part of the show was when hubby said something about "this is for my wife". He sand "I can see clearly now" which was perfect for the time with all the rain. My hubby did not win the show, which was OK, he was so happy with the experience. I was glad also because I missed him and my DD and if he had been picked he would have had to be in the 7:00 show as well. It was so funny after the show some people actually stopped him to get his autograph. That was such a boost for my hubby.

After stopping to buy an American Idol shirt, we headed to the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. The kids loved the Big Rolling Ball and the undercover stunt guy who kept getting beat up.

After Indiana Jones, we went to use our fast passes for Rock N Roller Coaster. Then went to the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. The kids were not sure if they would like it. We all loved the effects of being underwater. Very neat show! From there we headed to the closing Star Wars show (I am not sure what it was called). We had seen previous years on the computer and knew we would not want to miss it. It was very funny and the kids really liked it!

The park was closing so we went back to the hotel, had dinner and then swam in the Hippy Dippy Pool (the flower pool). There were lots of people in the pool and the kids had a ball.

Hi Amy!
So glad to read that you finally got to WDW! You've done so many designs for me and so many others through the years, that I'm glad YOU finally got to go!

Your Disney designs really made our 2007 family trip! I'm sad you can't do them anymore. But you have made so many other special designs for us too. (Even one to announce our third baby!) We really appreciate it! You're very talented! I really enjoyed seeing the stuff you made for your trip!

Yeah an update!

AI experience sounds great! I have not really been interested in this at DHS, but your experience has made me want to at least check it out!

Question...where can I find the "Thanks a Mint" and "You have been Spotted" match book templates/designs? I would love to make some of those!

Thanks!

Lynn
