Back from OKW

Just back from 5 days in a 1BR at OKW, sandwiched between 2 nights at the Hard Rock and 3 at AKL Concierge. We had room 1624, overlooking the golf course, just across the road from HH. Room was great - we were only missing a few minor kitchen items, the sofabed was a little, uh, stiff, when we were trying to put it away, and the batteries in the TV remote were dead (a quick call to housekeeping fixed that), but otherwise the room was in fabulous shape. Building 16 is in a great location - 3 minute walk to HH with a fabulous view overlooking the golf course.

We had a rental car, but did use the buses to visit the MK. I was reasonably impressed with the bus service - we didn't have to wait for a bus more than 10 minutes.

I can confirm that OKW does not have egg-crate mattresses available for you to use even if you're still within your room occupancy limits, contrary to what was posted here a number of weeks ago.

I woke up yesterday morning in my own bed, the temperature was 15C, it was raining, and I thought to myself "What am I doing back here? I wanna go home!"

Glad you had a great trip Mike. The 1 BR at OKW is great. Never stayed in Bldg 16. We love the golf corse views. I will request that and maybe I'll get it.
I never understand the maintenance issues we all have that and I always wonder why sthey were not recognized by the previous occupant, such as a dead remote, lights burned out, water leaks, toaster won't work, and the worst, toilet seat fell off the commode. How do you not report these things. Kudos to the DVC maintenace crews. They generally are usually quickly on the job.

Kind of hard to work around that one!

Mental note: BLDG 16.

Sounds like it will be hard to get requests met, though. I'll be satisfied with close to HH.

I agree that building 16 has great views! We stayed there our first DVC stay. The only negetive for that building is if you have 4 in a 1 bedroom, there is no extra door to the toilet/shower room from the laundry room, so anyone staying in the living room must go through the master to get to the bathroom. I think buildins 16-21 have GREAT views!

I think at OKW only buildings # 30 and higher have two entrances into the bathroom
