Hi folks,

I returned from OKW last week after a 2 week stay. My extended family and I stayed in building 23, in a beautiful 2 bedroom villa. We have stayed at OKW before in the South Point area, but due to my mom's medical condition we requested an accessible room. The location of building 23 was awesome! It was right across the bridge with a view of the pond fountain and the golf course.

The villa was immaculate, there are new appliances since our last stay, and everything was in good working order.

All cast members we encountered could not have been friendlier or helpful. One night my nephew became ill during the night, and vomited (sorry!) all over the bed and his younger brother! A call to housekeeping resulted in new bedding, including blankets, bedspread, and pillows within 10 minutes! I forgot to mention it was midnite.

The next day, housekeeping left a Mickey balloon for him, with a card signed by Mickey, hoping that he felt better. He did, we were the ones exhausted!

The decorations were great, Olivias was great, the Suitcase was great, the kids loved the new pool slide, thought it was.......wait for it........great!

With the exception of my mother, this was a first trip to Disney World for the rest of the family. I think I spoiled them for any future stays in any other resorts.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Wow! I'm glad you had such a nice time, and I think that it was very nice that he got the balloon and card.

Sounds like your trip was very good and your family had a great time. Isn't it fun to do something like this? :goodvibes

Sounds like you had a great trip!! We are heading down in 9 days to OKW and can't wait!! :yay: :yay:

Glad you had a great trip. We were in building 24 on our last trip. Great location. OKW is a very special place.

Always nice to hear great reports from OKW stays. Glad you had a great time. I know we can't wait to get back there.:goodvibes

Glad to hear your OKW experience was like most of ours have been! I agree that the views from that area are spectacular of the golf course! It is also the best location for buses. You get off on the first bus stop coming into the resort and can easily walk to HH and catch the bus at the LAST bus stop going out. It definitely makes travel times to and from much shorter!

We'll be there in just a few weeks now  Glad you had a great time, I know we will to!!!

We were just there in a studio from the 7th-14th. What a wonderful week!
One of the beds was squeaky and the room was muggy on entering so it had
a musty smell to it but we bumped the A/C and it was better. This place is
great. It's so beautiful. :goodvibes

Wow! Two weeks at OKW -- I'm so jealous! Glad to hear you had such a wonderful time. We've stayed in the same area as you, and we loved it too. My personal favorite so far.

We where there from the 2nd thru the 7th building 18. It was great. Glad you had a great trip.

Since you asked .. I do have questions. Am booked at OKW for last week of July.

I'm beating myself up over staying at OKW or trying to get into BWV. All the tour books are saying BWV is so much more exciting w/restaurants & entertainment etc. I'm thinking that 6 days at Disney in the heat of the summer will be enough excitement!!

Also concerned that OKW will take longer to get to the parks. My kids are 12,14,17. Would like to hit the parks early .. relax at the pool midday & go back to parks at night.

Help!!

Glad you loved it! Always great to hear a good trip report!

For the poster about OKW vs. BWV--yes, there is a difference here. BWV is walking distance to two parks, which is great. Plus there is the "nightlife" of the Boardwalk. OKW has a much more laid back, relaxed feel as opposed to "in the middle of it" as BWV. Both are wonderful resorts, so you won't go wrong.

My kids are still little, so no teens here yet, but I am thinking with your kids' ages, they might be happier at BWV. But then again, OKW has easier access to DTD which will also be appealing to them. You'll have a great trip either way.

Friday 30th November to Sunday 2nd December – Old key west.

Checked out of Wilderness lodge with no problems and used the bell service to ship our bags. Very easy and highly recommended. Went to a park and then got to old key west about 3.30. No wait at counter and checked in. Got my requested water view and was taken buy a bell man to my room with all our bags. We were all breathless at the beauty of this resort and the initial service that we had received. I have never experienced anything so good as this. So when we arrived at our 1bed (3353) and went in my wife almost burst into tears of joy. It was huge. Gorgeous, spotless and just awesome in everyway. Went to the balcony and marvelled at its size. Then the ducks came over for a feeding. This place is incredible! On exploring we found the tub. Ohhhhh! What a size! Could do laps in it. My DS immediately was at peace and began to drive his toy cars around the villa. We just fell in love with old key west. I was all for phoning member services to check if we could spend the rest of the holiday here! The two days flew in with great sleeps on very good beds with nice new pillows. All the buses were rapid and efficient. Even the walk to get the cup filled seemed to take less time that at the wilderness lodge. We we not close to the HH either! Went to the pool once and it was truly magic. Way better than the WL pool. Great slide. DS went on it at least 50 times.

So we regretfully checked out with nothing negative to say at all (The villa even had 2 remote controls. Both of which worked) used the excellent bell service to transfer the bags and off to the park.

OKW is IMHO the best DVC on site by far! (haven't tried vero or hilton head yet!)

Thanks for the wonderful report .. my heart is starting to rest easier.

Re: pool slide .. is there an age limit? It would be great if all my kids 12-17 could use it.

Thanks

Your kids will be fine on the slide. My husband has done it.

As for getting to the parks, it takes about 8 minutes once you leave the front gate to get to the MK. There are five bus stops - Peninsular Road, South Point, Old Turtle Pond, Miller's Road and Hospitality House (that's the order). You can always hop a bus to get over to the HH and main pool. The Internal Bus (also DTD and TL) stops at HH first and last. You can rent surrey bikes, standard bikes, boats. You can take the boat or bus over to DTD (or you can walk if you like).

Hi Wendy!

Thanks for the great trip report. We stayed at OKW back in Oct and loved it. I had to respond to your last sentence because did the same. You have definately spoiled them. We took some family to SSR last June and my nephew has already asked if we are planning to go back this summer. They have decided that doing Disney DVC-style is the only way to do it. I agree! :thumbsup2
