Back from OKW & GF Visit

We returned from a 5 night stay at OKW. We were in a 1 bdr, room 2221. I was a little hesitant as I thought I had read that was one of the noisy buildings, but it was great. The room was in great condition and very quiet. It had a great view of the 6th fairway of the golf course. We got several "Welcome Homes" throughout the stay. It was very quiet as it was right before the Spring Break crowd arrived. They had a record low temperature of 34 while we were there, but it didn't bother us. The parks were also quieter than we thought they would be. We are actually BWV owners but also love OKW. We love it so much, in fact, that we are thinking of adding on and looking for an OKW resale.

We also splurged and stayed one night at the GF. It was our anniversary and so we decided to pay cash and stay in style. I have always wanted to stay at the GF and the room was great, but even it wasn't as nice as our 1 bdrs at both OKW and BWV. We did have a great view of the castle and fireworks from our balconey. We were in the Conch Key bldy in room 7429. We could also hear the train and trolley on Main Street and the howls from the Haunted Mansion, so it really made you feel you were right in the middle of the magic. I'm really glad we got the opportunity, but now I know that I'm staying in even better accomodations with DVC.

Welcome home! GF #7429 has one of the best MK Views in the resort! It seems to be difficult to get into a MK View in Conch Key, so you were very lucky to get it!

Have fun at the DVC Resorts! I'm sure it is great to have all that extra space!

Thanks for the report. I was totally in awe of GF when we walked through it, and looked forward to someday staying there. It's good to see your assessment. I do understand the benifits of GF, but it's realy good to hear that DVC rooms are nicer in the way you have described!

Makes me proud to be a DVC'er!!

Sound like you had a great trip ceejay. We too stayed at the GF. We traded points to stay their last year as we knew we might never be able to afford to pay cash. We had the same accomadation tyoe that you had and it made up appreciate DVC that much more

DH and I stayed at the Grand Floridian two years ago and thought it was fantastic! It was my dream hotel. We had a room in Sago Cay that looked directly at the castle and we watched the fireworks from the room each night. This past December was our first stay at a DVC accommodation and I can't believe how much the DVC 2 bedroom villa blew our room at the GF out of the water! I enjoyed staying at the Grand Floridian but I wouldn't trade my DVC accommodations for a room there.

Anyway, thanks for posting your report. OKW sounds so beautiful and peaceful - will have to check it out one day.
