We went to Legoland on July 4th and LOVED it! Our kids (6 and 8) were the perfect age. They enjoyed the rides and spent lots of time just looking around Miniland. We thought the park was clean and well-maintained. We ate at the Garden restaurant for lunch and the pizza restaurant for dinner and enjoyed both (pricey, but we shared meals). The free kids' meals for dinner made the price more bearable. We were intending to go to the water park, but the weather was chilly, so we never made it. We were there from 10am-9pm and never ran out of things to do. The kids loved driving the cars and getting their driver's licenses (for $5 a nice souvenir). It was a fantastic day and not at all overshadowed by the 3 days we spent at Disneyland after.

Forgot to mention that Carl's Jr (at least the ones near LL) have coupons for a free child's ticket (I believe one per adult ticket) for Legoland.

Glad you had a good time! We went to Legoland just over a week ago and had a similar experience. We did go to the water park, and half of it ended up having to be shut down due to poop in the pool. They were telling people it was just a pump problem, but I saw the offending items while standing in line for the 1 open slide, plus I saw them cleaning. Yick.

If you have a child who is a member for Lego's free club, almost every magazine they send will also have a free coupon in there. Helps those of us not in the area!!

How were the lines for the rides? I've read some real horror stories about lines at legoland! We are considering checking it out for a day next week.

The lines were minimal with few exceptions. The line to ride one of the rides - the one where there's a car on a track, and you pedal it around like a bike, goes around the Kid Power Tower - had a 90 minute wait just an hour after the park opened! The line didn't look bad, but evidently, there are just so few cars. We totally skipped that one.

There was a long line for the ride where it's Indiana Jones-esque themed and you shoot lasers (I'm sorry I can't remember actual ride names). I think DS and DH waited 30 minutes.

Everything else was 15 minutes or less.

So glad you guys had fun!

We are going next week so thanks for the info on the lines. I am hoping to do the water park on a second day. Scary to hear of poop in the pool. At least they shut them down and were taking care of it.

I second PP on those two being very popular. If I were doing one day I would just pick one. I would skip Sky Cycle. It is very slow and you do get some of a view, but it is not worth the long lines. The Journey to Imagination/Indy type ride is much cuter to me, but it scared my nephew so will probably skip this time. It is a dark ride like Buzz and he has never been to DL so I think he had no idea what to expect!

We didn't have too much trouble with lines either. As soon as we got into the park (about 15 min after opening) we headed straight to the back and did the two roller coasters and the Buzz-type ride with very short lines. By the time we got to the pedal-ride later in the day, the wait was 90 min so we skipped it. My advice is definitely hit the rides first and save Miniland, shows, and play areas for later in the day. The ride where the kids drive the cars was probably 20 min when we did it in the evening (I think the sign said 30 min). The kids had to wait a few minutes to create their driver's licenses after (very cool) and we had to wait about 10 min to purchase them ($5 each plus $1 for a lanyard). The 4-D shows were somewhat crowded, but we didn't have any trouble getting into them.

We were also there on July 4th and the kids loved it. We got there around 11am and left at 8pm. It was a little chilly that day so didn't do the water park. The sky ride was 90min so we skipped it. My kids loved the driving and getting their personal drivers license for $5. Overall, a good choice to round out our San Diego leg before heading up to Disneyland for the following week.
