Well, what a gem HH is! My wife, son and I just returned from our first Thanksgiving (first trip) there and thoroughly loved it!

I got a little cold and wet on Friday and Saturday. However, the resort has everything we like about a trip to the beach. The beach house was wonderful, the turkey bowl was a load of fun, and we can't wait to go back.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We DO have so much to be thankful for!

Hi,

Glad you had a good time!! Mom & I love it too!!!

Glad you had a great trip! We are hoping to get to HH for Thanksgiving next year.

What size unit did you have, and do you remember the room #? Also, did you see any dolphins? That's what I remember was especially cool-seeing the dolphins come into the little cove in the morning and sunset.

We have never been to HH, but would like to try it. My husband is concerned that it looks like it's in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do........I think I'd love it! I'd love to hear from anyone who has stayed there about what is good/not so good, how it compares to the WDW and VB resorts and what there is to do at the resort and in the area. Does anyone have any photos?
Many thanks

We had a 1BR (3012) at the far end of the resort. I can't believe how BIG the rooms are. The porch was great.

We didn't see any dolphins. Probably because we didn't look for any dolphins :(

Debs Hill - There is plenty to do. There are golf courses aplenty. There are several putt putt courses nearby. You can go deep sea fishing and a multitude of other water activities. Or, you can relax on the porch, by the pool, or at the incredibly cool beach house! There are several malls nearby and plenty of good restaurants.

I highly recommend the place. In fact, I just booked a 2BR for next June for 5 nights (Sun - Thurs)

Disney's own photos just don't do justice to the resort. The picture that they usually use does make it look like it's in the middle of nowhere. It looks like this big resort is jammed onto an island off by itself.

In reality, though, it's right in the middle of Hilton Head Island. That bridge that leads to the resort is actually very short, and the Shelter Cove Marina is on the other end of the little bridge.

Being in the middle of an island isn't exactly a prime location; many would prefer to be on the "edge" of the island (AKA the beach). But it's far from being off by itself. And it's infinitely nicer than you'd guess by looking at the DVC photos.

Well we were there also. Arrived on Wednesday afternoon and left on Sunday morning. To save on air fare costs we flew into Jacksonville and drove up and back. Not a bad trip and all highway.

We were in room 2922 which is at the back of the resort near the pool and community center. It is a two bedroom.

We attended the DIS get together on Saturday afternoon. Even though not very well attended, it was great to put faces to names here on the boards.

Isn't "Blue Crab" great, he is a real asset to the resort. He is so talented.

We had a Dolphin tour scheduled for Saturday afternoon but it was canceled do to high winds, high surf and cold temperatures.

Thank you Disney for thinking about our welfare. It was so appreciated.

I actually got a chance to go in the pool and hot tub on Friday (in the rain).

This was the second time we've been to HH, but the first real trip
that we stay any lenght of time.

It's a great place to relax and enjoy each other as a family unit.

WE'll definitely be back.

Kennyk

Hi KennyK! Glad to see you made it back home safely. Enjoyed meeting you and your wife Saturday at Signals.

We also love spending T'givig at HH. It's an absolutely beautiful resort and we always feel soooooo relaxed while there.

Newarknut -- my DH and DS played in the Turkey Bowl too. I think that is DS's favorite part of the trip. He actually made a TD this year! You're right - we do have a lot to be thankful for!

And we did see dolphins!! ( During the Turkey Bowl) Couldn't get my camera out fast enough though. It was so awesome!

We were there for Thanksgiving as well. The deep fried turkey prepared by the resort was awesome!

It was nice to meet some folks on Saturday, we just happened to be at Signals when you started showing up, as we needed one more "fix" before heading back home :(

We are trying to figure out a way to have enough points to go back again in the spring. We went twice this year and loved both trips!

That's exactly why we added on at Hilton Head twice, and we now have more HH points than we do at WDW! We're going back for New Year's Eve and I can't wait!!!
