Back from great trip to AKL

We just got back from a 7 night trip to the AKL.

5-10 through 5-17.

The weather was hot and dry. It only rained one night and that was while we were eating. It stopped and we got to enjoy our night as planned on the Boardwalk.

The AKL is a really nice hotel. They walk the animals around the hotel so that everyone gets a great view from their balcony. We were on the Kudo trail and faced the sunset savannah. The Giraffe's seemed to always be outside our room. Our room was on the fourth floor room 4312 and our in-laws were in 4314. 4314 is the last room in the block and the balcony was actually three sided. They also had a dresser in the entryway to their room that we did not have in 4312.

The parks were never crowded. The longest we waited was for Dumbo and that was a 20 minute wait.

You sure do get a workout walking at the hotel though. Our room was almost as far as it could be from the pool, buses, and Mara fast food outlet. I can't think of a hotel at Disney where you would not have to potentially walk great distances.

Our next trip is to the BCV. I will miss all the animals at AKL.

Thanks for the report! We enjoyed AKL in October as well...we were also facing the Sunset Savannah, on the 3rd floor near the elevator. It was a hike to the foodcourt, etc., but from the looks of the BCV map (My new home resort as well.) I think it will be just as far to food/pool, etc. from anywhere at BCV. It also looks to be quite a hike to the bus stops. I bought sight unseen so I'll have to check it all out when we arrive.

Thanks for the trip report. I stayed in room 4306 my 1st time and I also saw giraffes all the time as well as lots of other animals. It was a long walk to everywhere, but I didn't mind. Did you take any pictures that you can share?
