I didn't title the thread "Just back from GF" - trip was Sun 12/2 - Sat 12/8. Random thoughts/comments from the trip...
This was our 9th visit, 7th in Dec.
We booked a GV at rack rate and were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a tower room in Conch (7306). We paid for a tower room a few years ago when DD was young and thought the extra room would be worth it. We didn't feel the cost increase was really worth it then. But it sure was nice for free (and made paying rack a little easier to swallow).
Got a towel tree (not an animal, but a tree). Also received a complimentary white choc Mickey statue and treats for DW's bday (I ordered a mini castle cake for another day of the trip too).
Liked the new decor. There were several Disney subtleties that the bellhop pointed out to us (like characters in the drapes). DD thought the flat screen tv was cool.
Open fridge is now stored in the main chest/dresser - no mini bar anymore. Using this space for the fridge takes away some drawer space. We had an extra chest with the tower room, so we weren't pinched.
Check-in was fast (3:30 pm).
Valet was MUCH improved over the past few years. There were no backups at drop off like there has been the past few times where I've had to wait 5 minutes for someone to take the keys. Also, they've reverted back to bringing your car around when calling ahead. They used to do this, then phased it out after 9/11 as a security measure (what I was told). Now it's back. Perfect timing to call the valet as you're leaving the room and have the car there waiting for you, or just being delivered, instead of standing/waiting for a few minutes.
Pools - not the warmest water temp. Sunday and Saturday were the warmest days at about 80. The beach pool was quite a bit colder, but the slide was fun.
Lobby - looked gorgeous as usual with the tree (though we still like the old tree better), gingerbread house, the rest of the decorations. Didn't seem as congested as it has been in years past. FP photog was set up taking pics in front of the tree.
Noticed the older lady sitting in the lobby at least 3 of the days. DW saw her leaving one night as we came back, so all I can share is that she's a local.
That's about it for now. Ask any questions.
