Back from FW -- It was great!

Yes it is true. I only can speak to the marina at FW but I even called before our trip to Florida to verify. I think it was 10% off but every little bit helps!

PS-this year the boys will be old enough to take out the little runabouts. It will give me a preview of what it will be like when they get their drivers licenses...

We are tent camping in April and asked for the 2000 loop. How was sleeping on the ground for a week? That is my biggest concern. I'm worried we won't be rested for the next day. Did you take the busses each time or did you ever try driving to the parks?
Thanks for all this info!

If you have room in your tent, then purchase a good air mattress or cot, then you won't be "sleeping on the ground". I sleep quite nicely. I have a double high air mattress, and since I'm usually there in colder weather, I use an electric mattress pad and electric blanket. Quite comfy :-)

Is there also a AAA discount for the Golf Carts?

We slept on very comfortable air mattresses, with 3 comforters on top of the mattresses, then we slept in our sleeping bags on top of that. We were very well rested each morning, much to my surprise, because that was my biggest concern too. We did drive to the parks on our first day, MK with an 8:05 Crystal Palace reservation. I didn't allow enough time to catch the internal bus to the MK bus and the boats weren't running yet, so we had to drive. It was a real easy drive and we left the campsite at 7:40 and made our reservation in time.

Our family had a blast! Fort Wilderness is great and all the help I received from this board was a huge help. I will say that the 2000 loop was perfect for us, however, our neighbors were very upset that they were not able to be in the 1500 loop. They thought 1500 was much better. If anyone has any questions that I can help with, please feel free to ask.

Hey there Kanda!! I'm so glad you had a good time! I've been sick this past week and in the midst of my feverish delirium and extreme weakness I wondered if you had 'been there, done that, going back' yet. So, would you tent camp at Fort Wilderness again? Did you find the campground peaceful and relaxing?

About the laundry rooms; sometime in the recent past they changed the machines in some of the loops (might be all, I don't know). The old machines were not as efficient as the new ones and it used to take several turns through the dryer to get a load dry. I was happily surprised to go back to my loads this past trip and have everything perfectly dried with just one go. I'm big on bargain hunting and saving and wasn't so happy about the new charges until I saw how quickly and efficiently the new machines worked.

We also stayed in loop 2000, site #2034. It was wooded behind the camper and the two camp-sites on the sides of us were spaced pretty good, and we had quiet neighbors. We were across from a comfort station, but had a bit of a walk to the bus stop. We would like a golf cart next time !!! At night we could'nt see fireworks from our site, but we could hear them :yay:

Does anybody have any tips on which sites in the 2000 loop can see the fireworks?

That would be so cool! :goodvibes

Thanks,

Sue in TX
...getting so excited for May...
