All I can say is that I should have bought into DVC years ago. We had a wonderful one bedroom and we couldn't have been happier! I just couldn't get over how much space we had and the quality of the place. It is a definite upgrade for us from the moderates! Someone from DVC came to our door and brought us balloons and an autographed Mickey picture! Talk about "Welcome Home" ! We took the Saratoga Springs resort tour and explored Beach club and Boardwalk. I was thinking of adding on at one of these, but I've decided I don't like the layouts of these places as much as OKW. OKW feels like you are at your own condo, and I didn't like the hallways that the other DVC props had which made you feel like you were at a hotel. We are totallt impressed and I am sure we will add on soon! Thanks for all your help everyone in finding our home away from home!!!!

SO glad you had such a great time. Thanks for the report - it's making me even more excited about our trip!!:hyper:

I'm glad you had a great time.
Imagine our suprise after buying 230 OKW points, and never stepping on the property prior to the purchase!

Glad to hear you had a great time. Yes, we too LOVE OKW for the same reasons you mentioned. It really is a HOME away from home.

What a nice surprise it must have been getting the balloons and picture. What was the occasion? Or did they just do this to Welcome You Home?

Nakedbear....

So happy you had a great time!!!

OKW is just so under-rated!! Huge units...cheaper points...cheaper to buy....same transportation as SSR ...seems a no brainer to me.
Yea....many years ago when OKW was new I toured it and didn't take the time to understand it, too young, too busy, too stupid and have been kicking myself ever since!! :faint: :crazy2: :faint:

Oh....how cheap it was..remembering $3-5K....what an idiot I was, "yearly" FREE park tickets too!! The Poly (where we stayed constantly) was somewhere around $50.-$100./night with a lagoon view...was wonderful waking up to see the castle.

Well....in Feb 03 I walked up to the CM @ the Poly, looking for a room, ready...$295./cheapest garden view......not me..

Well...here I am older and wiser!
As usual..corporate greed has reduced the room sizes in all the other DVC's...but
I bought the BC in 03, luckily for $74./pt, with a $2K discount. My thought was the walkways to MGM & E would be ideal if I needed to have a scooter with me or the family. Besides I live on the water here @ the Jersey shore.

Had my 1st time home in May...was great !

BUT......if I had known about this site and DVC resales...I would have bought in OKW as my 1st choice......
Am planning a family blowout @ OKW, Dream Season, Grand Villa for 06....and 400+ pts @ OKW vs. 600+ pts. @ SSR...is a major consideration

Sorry Im so lloonngg winded today.....

;) You don't have to kick yourself that hard -- I believe the price wos roughly $12,000 since the minimum number of points was around 210-230. $3-5 might be the downpayment.

Nakedbear -- glad to hear you really enjoyed your first trip home! May there be many more.

Oooooohhhhh, we will be at OKW in 2 and a half weeks!!!! I am getting SOOOOOO excited.....Lacee

Always love hearing great things about OKW our home away from home since 1992.::yes:: :wave2:

We own at SSR and loved our stay there. We played golf at Lake Buena Vista and then walked around the OKW resort. We really want to stay there (and all of them for that matter). It was a beautiful resort - and we have heard how nice and big the rooms are.

Glad you enjoyed it

Eric

I'm renting a 2BR on points for January at OKW, and I am very excited since I'm hearing such positive things.

Hopefully this will inspire me to buy my own Disney "home"....

We're buying an OWK resale (went to ROFR 9/13) without ever having been to Disney World before!

Back in 94 we went to WDW and stayed at AS sports and got home and decided to buy into DVC sight unseen it was the best purchase I have ever made .

So glad you liked our home! We prefer the Townhouse style over hotel style too. We'll be spending two nights at SSR in a couple of weeks before our GV stay at OKW, and I'll let you know how we feel about that when we return.

In answer to someone's question, I guess the balloons where just to welcome us home! I did not expect it, having not read about it here on the boards. Perhaps it was because we also looked at SSR that day they decided to send us a welcome home present. Who knowws? But we really appreciated it and love OKW!!!

Great to hear another positive OKW post!!! Glad you enjoyed your trip and what a wonderful suprise with the the balloons and all!!!

I purchased a resale at OKW for 370 points back in May of this year, sight unseen. This purchase was based on the pictures I had seen, the cost & fees and the people from this board's recommendations.

Having been to WDW 16 times to date I knew it was time (long overdue actually) to become a DVC Member. The hardest decision for me wasn't whether to buy, it was "where to buy". OKW seemed to fit my needs and my budget perfectly. My first trip home is not until Dec (then again in Jan). I just love hearing all the positive feedback about OKW and can hardly wait to finally get there and experience it for myself.

We had our first trip home to OKW in August and I was given two balloon with Mickey weights and a dog made from a ballon at check-in. I thought it was a lovely Welcome Home - my 13 year old son thought it was hilarious to seen me with the balloons and trying to get into the bell hops van to go to our room without popping them!

We also bought OKW sight unseen but loved everything about it and have already booked for next year.:)
