We stayed at DL for two days during our California trip and we all loved Disneyland. All of the building are so much more detailed than in Magic Kingdom. I wish they had copied the DL Haunted Mansion when they made MK. The DL one looks much spookier from the outside and I liked that you entered through the front. The Main Street buildings look like actual buildings instead of one big building with different facades stuck on them every twenty feet.
We arrived at DL at opening and were able to walk on several rides. We always arrive at opening at MK and have never been able to just walk on anything. There have always been at least a few people ahead of us, but not at DL. We loved it! We even got to ride Splash Mountain twice.
We were not as impressed with CA. It's a nice park, but a bit of a letdown after DL. The river rapids are definitely better than Kali River Rapids. I know it would be hard for any park to compete with DL, but I'm glad they are adding a new area.
We used our Starwood Points and stayed in an 11th floor room facing CA at the Sheraton Park. We had a great view with a full balcony and could see all the major attractiongs. The Sheraton Park is very nice hotel with great beds. It took us 15 - 20 minutes to walk to the parks, which did seem a little long at the end of the day. We did enjoy the walk though, and had no desire to take a shuttle. One nice feature of the DL area is that there are so many hotels you can choose from within walking distance of the parks.
