Just back from a week in Disney. We stayed at the WL. We love that resort..and the entire family...all five of us went. My husband and I biked over to FW a few times. Scouting out sites for our future trip with the travel trailer. My older son came along with us on one of the bike trips...had a nasty fall in front of Crockets Tavern..hit a patch of sand or something...and bike was out from under him...nasty road rash on his leg. Actually went to emergency room last night..it's infected..but they have him on anitbiotics now. So much for his peaceful ride through the Fort! Anyway..hubby and I went back twice after that. Even checked out Trails End...can't believe the selection of food for the price! I was surprised to see they offered take out. You could feed an entire family on a couple of take out meals there. We are a bit partial to the 300 loop...if we wind up taking the dog....and discovered the much talked about "Swamp Trail"...went biking back there and saw the old one room cabin. Took a brief refuge there while there was an ever so slight passing shower. Hardly noticeable really. Continue on the trail by foot for a while. It's pretty overgrown... MAN....there are some HUGE BUGS back on that trail! My husband is big into picture taking..and he went back with his camera...I made tracks out of there pretty quickly... never to return, thank you. The water level in the canals was incredibly low...in fact in some areas...bone dry! I can't imagine they were renting any canoes or Kayaks. Did stop in to see the Meadow Pool, and there were games being played..and snack bar open. Earlier in the week(Tues.) it was pretty empty..but on Friday things seemed to be filling in, and a bit more crowded. My husband bought me a new digital camera for our trip. I took photos of all the loops and sites we liked. I'm already comparing them to the thread where pictures of sites are posted. We have photos of some sites in the 500,600, and 700 loops. Along with the outer loop of the 1400 loop. Now to figure out if we plan to take the dog or not.
I was very surprised at how dry the campground was...and how some loops seemed to have a good amount of dry leaves and brush that should probably be cleared out. I did notice a couple of loops near the pool were closed earlier in the week while work was being done in there. Later on Friday they were open..and nicely cleaned out and new mulch added in some areas. Since I'm not familiar with what they looked like before, I'm not sure what other work may have been going on. Guess they were getting them ready for the Memorial Day Weekend crowd.
We enjoyed our bike rides to FW very much...and hope to camp there this
year. We have a seasonal site in upstate NY...and after going to FW..I'm sorry that I already paid for it for this year...I think for sure, I'd be back at the Fort for a few weeks if I hadn't. It sure was tough to come home.

Glad 2 hear ya had a Great time......;)

No more beer 4 your son ..........:drinking1

Thanks...yes, we called him the "official inspector for quality control of alcholic beverages" while he was in Epcot. It was his goal to experience a beer from each country. Of course with his injury...he had all the more reason to indulge..trying to relieve his discomfort.:rolleyes1 (what a story!) Of course he could have also just gone to the Dr. while in Disney. Not as much fun as the beer quality control officer!;)
