We were 5 adults in a 2 bedroom BCV villa from 1/7-1/12. Checked in at 2:30pm. The CM assured us that we would have 2 queens in the second bedroom and showed us on a resort map 4 choices of room we could have. We took a fourth floor Epcot view. In retrospect, that view isn't that great considering we never were in the room to see the fireworks and you stare at the road before Epcot. It was still a nice room though and other than a couple light bulbs out, nothing was wrong.
We had several nice meals down there including Flying Fish, Cape May Cafe, Fulton's Wolfgang Puck's and Portabella Yacht Club. With 5 adults eating and drinking, we got plenty of use out of our DDE card. Service was good some places, bad others, and we were not on DDP. So DDPers, bad service does not discriminate between you and those paying OOP. The one thing I did not like at all was the standard drink menu that every bar has now.
The same stupid blue martini is at every bar, ESPN, Belle Vue Lounge, Martha's Vineyard, Ohana's Bar, etc... The beer selection is God awful, and is the same everywhere. Martha's Vineyard no longer has the great wine selection displayed in the preservation system behind the bar. It is just a sad empty case now. The drink standardization is awful.
I am sorry to see WDW move in that direction. As far as standardized menus go, I really didn't see it. We ate mostly at Signature restaurants though, so maybe that is why I didn't notice it.
DW and I were tourguides for 3 friends. We did all 4 parks in 2 days. Way too much for us, but our friends liked seeing everything. Lines in the parks weren't bad. We did not even do one fastpass. We were given Dream fast passes by the "Dreams Crew" when we boarded our car on Star Tours. We never used them and gave them to a family as we left MGM. It was cool to get it though.
Last thing, the crazy part was when I was in the room alone, water began pouring onto our balcony from a drain in the ceiling above it. It was like an outdoor shower that lasted about 2-3 minutes. Luckily, no one was out there. It soaked the balcony and the plastic furniture on it. No harm done, but imagine if someone was under it when it happened. I called maintenance about a problem with this drain. Well, when I got back in my room later DW told me maintenance came around to check the kitchen drains and found nothing. Of course, they assumed the drain was in the kitchen, not above my balcony. I did not pursue it, but we did look up the rest of our trip.
Sad to leave, but look forward to next January at VAKL.
