Just back from 3 OKW renting points and 12 days Beach Club Villas using points and cash. Since so many people have helped me by sharing their experiences at WDW, I feel I should do the same.
First, we loved both places! OKW rooms were a studio in Building 62 ok view of road leading into resort, second night a 2BR Building 13 nice view of golf course, and the 3rd night studio Building 35 1st floor terrible view(patio view was of air conditioning units next to patio. Many "Welcome Homes" here. Some at BCV. At BCV, the view from our studio room (544) was of Space Ship Earth, The Land, and Imagination with slight view of Canada and Illumination at night - wow! Everything in the rooms was working properly. OKW rooms seemed to be pre-assigned. At BCV he room didn't seem to be assigned to us until I checked in around 8 AM. The CM said she would check to see if she could find a room which matched my request. She said she found a room that "says partial Epcot view." At check-in at BCV, I asked when full cleaning and trash/towel days would be and as published, 4th day full - 8th T/T - 12th full(which seemed silly as we were leaving the next day, but... maybe next time I will asked to have this changed). I didn't miss daily cleaning, as we didn't have to worry about when the maid would be cleaning. When we stayed at OKW for 3 nights checking in and out each day, the first morning a maid knocked twice to see if we had left the room- once around 8 then next time around 10. From then on we put out the sign before we went to bed - Privacy Please. We did this at BCV and never had trouble on the service days. Then we would turn the sign over for service when we left. Both resorts were nice in there own way. Just as has been posted on the boards OKW is peaceful out of the way with larger rooms then BCV. The 2BR at OKW really spoils a person - HUGE!(especially for 4 people) I always wanted to see what OKW was like and was glad I did. It is a very nice resort.
I did like BCV more though because I wanted to be able to walk to Epcot my favorite park. SAB pool complex is wonderful but crowded. I thought the noise from the road seemed loud in the morning(only when sitting on the balcony-not in while in the room) other then that no problem. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back.
On another note - I tried to make cash reservation for a weekend next July and there is no avaliablity for cash rooms. While on the phone today with member services the price was $294 a night for DVC discount. When I said ok the CM said oh now none available. This was the second time in two weeks I tried to get a cash reservation. Nothing avaliable. She said to keep calling back as more cash inventory may open.
