We checked in on Saturday November 17th. Got to the Dolphin around 11am and didn't expect our room to be ready, but we did a pre-check in and they told us they'd call on my cell when our room would be ready.

I asked where our room was located (I called a few days prior requesting something on the Epcot side--east wing) and they told me they were full to capacity and they'd put me in the first available room. I was fine with that. There was a rather large convention going on sponsored by Johnson & Johnson. I was surprised that there would be a convention planned so close to Thanksgiving and on a weekend at that, but I guess you never know. :confused3

After lunch at the Fountain and doing a quick grocery stop, I decided to check back at the desk and our room was ready! We were assigned to rooms 5187 & 5193, a one bedroom executive suite that was on the corner of the hallway, just the way I like it!

We weren't on the east wing as I had hoped we'd be, but we did have a gorgeous view of the Grotto pool area and the Tower of Terror, the next best thing!

Here are a few shots taken from our windows:

Here are various shots of the room(s). Just in side the door, the kitchen-like area, which had plenty of drawers and cabinets:

Half way through our stay they took out the 2-4 cup coffee makers and replaced them with a Starbucks set up:

Here's a few shots from around the Swan/Dolphin resort area, which I think is one of the prettiest on WDW property. I really feel like I'm on vacation when I stay here!

We're planning our summer vacation at WDW (8 of us) and we will be staying at the Dolphin,so when I saw your thread I knew I could get some much needed info!
I stayed at the Dolphin 4 years ago and can't wait to return.A lot of changes can happen in 4 years. i think I read somewhere that there is now a charge to park your rental car there. True or not?
I'll be back with more questions soon!

As a side note, the S/D was just barely decorated for christmas, nor were they playing christmas music yet like the other resorts. As the days went by, we noticed a new wreath here or there, but nothing major. Which was okay with me because I think the holiday season is so rushed anymore!

The other resorts and the parks were in full swing though regarding christmas decorations.

On our check out day (Nov. 23rd.) as we we walked through the lobby I noticed that the fountain in the center was completely drained. I imagine they are getting ready to put up the huge floor to celing tree this weekend!

Yep, it's $9.00 a day plus tax for self parking. You can come and go as many times a day as you like and just be charged the one "per day" rate.

We'll have 2 cars so that's a good chunk of change. we will be using a Teacher discount there, guess it all comes out in the wash...

Yeah, it's something I just don't even think about! It's like the old adage "don't sweat the small stuff." To me, it's small change when compared to what a bottle of water cost inside the parks times the four of us, in addition to all the other stuff we buy when we're there! What's another $9.00plus a day, ya know? :)

Incredible pictures, I feel like I am there! Looking at them leave me feeling wistful, nostalgic, melancholy, "homesick"...I am sure there is one word that would sum it all up, but I cannot think of it right now!:confused3

Thanks you for sharing. Was the pool warm? How was the construction on the Cabana Bar? Did you get a chance to see Miss Thelma at Camp Dolphin?

Thanks for the photos. We were at the Dolphin from 11/10 to 11/18. It brings back a lot of great memories. I'm getting even more depressed looking at the photos again! :sad1:

Yeah, that's true. I guess its better to look at it that way.

Had you booked a suite or were you given a complimentary upgrade? We stayed at the Dolphin several years ago and have only stayed at Disney resorts since but seeing the pictures makes me realize how much we enjoyed it.

Fantastic photos, we love the Dolphin, and will be staying there for our 5th time in March. :D

I really like the look of the suite - is it a lot more expensive than a normal room? We are 2 adults and 2 teens - boy and girl - and are getting a bit squished in a normal room with a rollaway now.

Thanks for the great pictures.

Did you have the buffet breakfast at Fresh? I haven't seen a recent review and would like to try it on our next visit.

We ate there in June. It is very nice, but a tad expensive if you aren't a big breakfast eater. DH and DD enjoy it very much, as they ARE big breakfast eaters! I prefer room service waffles and fruit while sitting at my balcony. :goodvibes
My only complaint at Fresh is that the service is quite S L O W. It's not the place to eat if you are anxious to hit the parks. It makes sense for a day you plan to lounge around the hotel, in my opinion. ;)

We received a comp. upgrade!

I can totally relate! I have two teen boys who refuse to sleep in the same bed together, and at their sizes now, it wouldn't be fair to them anyway.

I think the suites (especially the 1 and 2 bedroom suites) are more expensive than 2 rooms, but you never know until you call and see what they can offer you.
