We just got back yesterday from another great trip to Walt Disney World -- 8 nights -– 6 nights at AKV and 2 nights at BCV. The crowds weren’t too bad and the weather was great!

We checked into AKV on March 1. We had an immaculately clean 1-BR Savanna view overlooking the Arusha Savanna (Room 5307). We spent most of Saturday just gazing out at the giraffe’s and zebra’s on the savannah.

I was surprised at how quickly the construction next door at Kidani Village had progressed since our Dec 2007 visit. Every single building in the backward “3” shape is now under construction, whereas in December it was only the buildings in the lower section of the backward “3”.

Kingdom Towers appears to be progressing well, although all the DVC folks I spoke to refused to talk about it. I heard the sales guides telling prospective members “not to count on it”.

On Friday, we moved over to a Studio at BCV (Room 327). It was very clean, and the only wear and tear I saw was the carpet. Everything else looked great. It gave us a pretty good view of the fireworks of Illuminations. The two days at BCV, the weather cooled down, so we skipped SAB. However, we walked over to Epcot, where we spent most of our time on Friday and Saturday.

We had some great dinners at Jiko, California Grill, and the Hollywood Brown Derby. We also had some great breakfasts at Boma and Cape May Café. We also visited Beaches & Cream a couple times!

We tried character dinners at the Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern, and The Garden Grill. My wife absolutely hated The Garden Grill, as the chef couldn’t accommodate her food allergies. The most accommodating of the character dinners was Liberty Tree Tavern. While she loved seeing the characters, she didn’t like the food selections for her (she has seven food allergies).

Then, the worst part of our trip -- we had to come home! However, it’s only 48 days until our cruise on the Disney Wonder, followed by 3 nights at BWV, so we have something to look forward to!

I'm glad you had such a nice time. You ate in some fine places, and I'm glad your DW was able to enjoy the meals with only the single exception. It must be hard to have food allergies.

That sounds like a great trip to be looking forward to as well. You really enjoy your DVC points!

Thanks for telling us about your trip.....did you take any pictures that you'll be posting? We'll be staying at BCV in May....any tried and true tips? How long is the walk from the villas to EPCOT?

That's the great thing about BCV -- it has the best location of any DVC, IMHO. From our our to the International Gateway entrance to Epcot is less than a 5 minute stroll.

There are so many of our favorite restaurants nearby -- Yachtsman Steakhouse, Flying Fish Cafe, Spoodles, Le Cellier, Cape May Cafe, etc.

We enjoy just walking around World Showcase...

Thanks for your report.

Did you have mugs and glasses in your studio?
Thanks
Kerri

We have ADRs at 3 of your favorites...Spoodles, Le Cellier (DH is dying to try) and Cape May Cafe (for character breakfast)! We are looking forward to our trip! :goodvibes EPCOT is my favorite park (AK is a close 2nd) and every time we go I don't get to spend as much time as I'd like strolling around World Showcase. We are tossing around the idea of a small (75) add-on at either BWV or BCV but we want to wait until our trip to decide - it's sounds like you'd give BCV an edge(?) by location. How about overall??

We love BCV for the location right outside of Epcot, as well as SAB and the sandy beach. The views from BCV aren't that great, however.

We love BWV for the boardwalk view rooms overlooking the lively (but noisy) boardwalk midway and Crescent lake, as well as the point-saving Std view rooms. We don't particularly like the long hallways or the fact that you have to go outside for CS/TS restaurants.

Each has it's pros and cons. Instead of trying to choose between them, we bought points at both (we own more points at BCV than BWV).

How did I know you were going to say that? :lmao: I don't think that would be possible for us right now. I thought of suggesting two 40 point add-ons instead of one 75 but 40 pts (even with banking/borrowing) doesn't seem like enough to even bother (we are a family of 5 so need 1 to 2BRs).

Even though they are 2 different resorts with their own personalities I think the fact that they're so close to each other (location-wise) would make us choose one over the other.
