Back after emergency gallbladder surgery

Glad to hear that you are recovering nicely! I had my GB out 6 years ago a few months after I gave birth to my DD. Thankfully, my doctor caught it early. Ever since then I have had to watch what I eat b/c I get little attacks from food.

Take it easy!

I suffered for 10 years because of a misdiagnosis. There were times I literally wanted to die rather than go through that pain again. I had my gallbladder removed in May. the surgeon said my gallbladder was literally FULL of stones and it was inflammed. I have not had any problems since and I have been able to eat what ever I want to! :cool1: Turns out most of the females on my mom's side of the family have had their gallbladders removed. I guess I am just carrying on the family tradition.

I am glad to hear that you are doing well.

My doc gave me pictures of my gallbladder (I'll have to frame those, huh?) :earseek: ;)

They're actually so disgusting, I can't even think about them now without feeling the urge to hurl. ;)

Enough stones to make a nice necklace. :earseek: :earboy2:

I sympathize. I have the big ol' Chevron (sp?) incision from my gallbladder ordeal. I won't go into details, but let's just say it wasn't pretty...

But as for advice for you from this point onward, digestion was not a simple process for me for quite a while. I found that taking an iron supplement was very helpful - initially I took it daily, then every-other day, now I don't need it at all (although I do still have occasional IBS-like days).

Glad to hear your surgery was successful.

Kick back and have everyone wait on you hand and foot. :cool1: :grouphug:

My Mom just had emergency gallbladder surgery while on vacation at WDW!
She calls me and says "I just want to let you know that I'm not feeling too good, so I'm in the room. (just in case I talked to my sisters who were down there with her)" I ask what's wrong and she tells me she has really bad pains in her stomach and back, "but it's just bad gas because I'm eating really bad here" I ask if she's sure it's not her heart (already had 1 heart attack) I figured if she was calling me long distance she was really not feeling well. So about 2 hours later I get a call from my younger sister..they were coming back to the room from DTD (mom sent them away) and there was an ambulance in front of the hotel..they knew it was for Mom..she got taken to the hopitaland after a night of tests they realized it was her gallbladder. It was infected and really huge, or has the doctor said it was a "very sick" gallbladder. I flew down, she had surgery and we flew home together. I have to tell you, my Mom is something else..they released her on Friday and on Saturday we were pushing her around Magic Kingdom in a wheelchair because she had to ride Peter Pan and a few others!

She had been complaining about not being able to eat much, but we all thought it was because of her chemo..it was probably that pesky GB all along.

Patti,

Glad to know you're on the road to recovery. I hadn't "seen" you here for several days and I was wondering if you were on vacation. I'm sorry it was something nowhere near as fun :rolleyes2:

It's good to have you back. Relax and get yourself well.

I'm sorry to hear you were sick, but I'm also glad to hear that you are better.

My Gallbladder story -

When I was 25 (almost 10 years ago) I had to have my gallbladder removed unexpectadely. I had lost a lot of weight and I lost it by not eating any fat in my diet. Needless to say - this destroyed my gallbladder. The pain was terrible. I was in the hospital 5 days before they removed the gallbladder and they also had to do a liver biopsy because my liver became very sick due to the sick gallbladder.

I realized after having the terrible pain of gallstones passing for several days that I could go through labor and delivery without a problem. When I went into labor with DD#1 I used no drugs or epideral because I knew I could handle it because I knew that as soon as the baby came out the pain was gone. I had the gallbladder pain for many many days which is much worse.

Anyway........I'm glad you're better and take care of yourself!!
