Babysitting Tips?

Hey, everyone. I just got asked to do my first babysitting job on Wednsday for a few hours. I'm already crazy nervous about it. The kids are 10 and 6, so they're not like babies, but I'm still nervous about it. Is there any tips from those of you who have babysat before that you can give me, about, well, babysitting?

Just remember to stay calm and keep their attention.
Since they're older, it will probably be easier to keep them in line too.

My brothers are 10 and 5, and when I babysit them, I usually put in a movie for them to watch.

be nice, yet forceful. really it's nothing to worry about, i've done lots of babysitting and as long as you follow the parent's instructions- there's nothing to stress over You'll do fine!

Kind of have a schedule with them.
Like craft time, movie time, playtime, snack time, etc.
Parents tend to like when you have a schedule of stuff for them to do and you don't just sit them in front of the tv the whole time.

Get a babaysitting bag together:

G or PG movies
music CD appropiate and fitting for their age
toys appropiate and fitting to their age
a first aid kit *** VERY IMPORTANT!! Most houses have one of these but not all of them are easily accessible. Emergencys CAN happen!
Phone
iPod (for after the kids are asleep or to play music)
paper and pens (could come in handy

Also..be sure to get the parents number, kid's doctor's number, etc. ALso...find out any allergies or medical problems or things like that!

I have four sisters ages 2-16 and I babysit all the time!
Play games or have movies.
Make sure you ask if they have a bed time, and when they can stop eating sweets or soda ect.
It will be super easy!
Just have fun! Movies and games are the best way to go!
