Just had to say....

We went shopping at Babys R Us today and bought Munchkin Snack Catchers 2 pack for $7.89. Then we went to Walmart for some other stuff and saw the same exact item for $2.49.

This is so crazy....so I bought it at Walmart also and then returned the Babys R Us on.

A difference of over $5.00 for the same exact item, i can't believe it.

That is why I wander around the store looking at things I have no intention of buying that day. I know my prices. I don't like paying more than I have too.

In general I find Babies R Us to be a total rip-off. They have a great selection, but between the poor customer service and overpriced items, I typically just stay clear. I don't think it's right to have to have a 20% coupon to get a fair price...just my opinion. You can usually get the same thing at Walmart online for a lot less expensive and if you do the site to store shipping, you don't have to pay any shipping fees.

I NEVER bought that kind of stuff at BRU. They are always higher. Toys are higher too. They do have some really good sales on clothes and they have some totally cute holiday/ special outfits that are not too bad priced and hard to find other places!!

I only buy Scott brand toilet paper. I have never in my adult-tp-buying-life bought any other brand. It's one of only two things I'm brand-snobby about (the other is Diet Coke) ... anyway. I rarely shop at Walmart, because I find their quality to be lacking (you get what you pay for) but I was assured by a good friend that their Optical Shop was top notch for my ds's glasses (which they are!!)

There was a display of Scott tissue on sale and I was going to go to Target specifically for TP the next day so I just got it there. I got it home and opened the pack to distribute into the bathrooms and it felt different than my usual TP. I compared a roll from the new pack to a roll I already had and what a difference!! The new stuff was MUCH thinner. It wasn't a fluke roll either, I opened the other 4-pack (it was a 24 pack of tissue) and it was just as thin.

I returned the entire pack to WM the next day.

My lesson? You may think you're getting a deal at Walmart, but odds are you get what you pay for. I bet if you compared durability of each thing you'd find the WM one lacking. WM often gets goods from companies that they wouldn't be able to sell to other stores - think irregulars but not outrightly irregular.

In the end, it really IS just snack cups, so you'll probably be fine. I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents about the "bargains" at Walmart.

Well I'll disagree with you. I buy my Scott TP from wherever has it for the lowest price be it Target, Wal Mart, CVS, grocery store & the quality is always the same.
OP, don't you know Wal Mart is the devil ;).

I find Walmart or walmart.com prices are much less, less than target.com as well. I'm not a big fan of Walmart stores but have to say that I've purchased a few items on their website due to the lower price.

The only time I buy at Babies R Us is if they are the only place that has it locally and I need it right away, or if I have a great coupon. Otherwise I know I'm paying too much for something I could find much cheaper elsewhere.

You can find the deals at BRU...you just have to know the cost before you go. I've noticed sometimes sale prices on toys are much better than Walmart (which rarely 'sale prices' anything unless going to clearance). I've been wanting to get a Thomas the Train early engineers roundhouse set...which is $24.99 at Walmart (and about everywhere)...but got it at BRU on sale yesterday for $17. So you just have to know the original prices before you go.

But diapers, wipes, and just plain old 'baby staples' tend to be cheaper everywhere else unless BRU is having a sale or you have a good coupon!

:thumbsup2 agreed!

They are very expensive there....I shop the clearance racks for my kids and godchildren, otherwise, no thanks!

I loathe BRU sometimes. It's sadly my go-to place for things that are hard to find at Target or things that Target just doesn't carry. I'll only buy things with a coupon there, I figure it just covers their 'BRU' markup.

Some of the price differences are crazy!! The only time I go there is with gift cards and coupons in hand! Otherwise, we're a Target family!

So I am a total Target shopper too, but sometimes you have to go there. I hate to say it but they have a great variety and few other stores do.

But am so glad I checked, because it was a crazy mark up!

Recently we had to get new cribs - for our twins. We went to BRU and saw some we liked. When I goggled them and homw it showed them being sold at walmart.com for like $100 less each AND free shipping! BRU wanted $90 shipping! I never even knew walmart.com sold half the things they did!!

And sadly that is where all new mothers register....ugghhh. I would much rather buy stuff off a registry at Walmart or Target but all new young mothers are just lured in to that mega baby store and are so elated they don't even recognize prices, just all the pretty new baby stuff. I can't say I wasn't the same way.....but still I only go in there for other peoples registry stuff now.
