Sorry if this sounds silly but DH made me second guess myself.

So are y'all familiar with those smallish stuffed, *babydoll* plush toys -- for lack of a better word. They're in the baby departments at department stores like Macy's, Kohls etc, soft and cuddly, some have little rattles inside. But all are super soft material.

Well anyway, I found a few on clearance (hence, budget board :) ) of First Christmas Baby, again, all soft plush, and cuddly and in the shape of a baby.

My question. Do you think these would be a good gift for a baby boy too? Since it's First Christmas? When I showed DH as part of a baby gift for a newborn boy, he said, "Its a doll, he's a boy". Yeah I know :rolleyes1 but I think they're really cute.

We have several friends / acquaintances with newborns including girls, so I can give them to the girls. But it made me wonder so I thought I'd ask ya'll because you know everything :goodvibes

As long as the doll doesn't specifically look like a girl, I don't see a problem with it. My DS (2) has a little Cabbage Patch with a soft body that he snuggles at night with his stuffed animals. You know your friends, you'll know what they'll think of a doll for a boy.

My son has one my mom gave him when he was born. He named him Buddy when he got older. He loved to snuggle with him. He is going to be 13 next month and still has him in the closet and says he is going to pass it on to his kid some day. Don't see an issue with a boy getting a "doll", I played with Hot Wheels and GI Joe as a little girl.

DS has the AG twin boy that he sleeps with and plays with. He actually wants a bed and pirate costume for his baby for Christmas this year. :rotfl: He plays with all types of other "boy" toys and makes his baby play sports with him.

I just feel like it will make him a good daddy one day. ::yes:: I would have no issue with someone giving DS a doll, but I know some of my friends (mainly their husbands) would not like it at all. Like a pp said, you know your friends. And you don't have to call it a doll--it can be a soft "action figure." ;)

As a girl that played with all the boy toys (DH and I were just discussing yesterday how I was the kid that would go to McDonalds but always ask for the boys toys because they were cooler... I mean yesterday the boys would have gotten super hero mini skateboards and the girls some little pet shop thing... I liked the boy toy.)

So although I think boys toys are better then girls if a boy wanted to play with a "girls" toy I would have no problem with that either.

My son loves his "baby." Got his for his first Xmas, too I think. He's 4 1/2 now and Baby still lives in his bed. He might not be the most played with toy anymore but he gets upset if baby ends up in the toy box!

There is nothing wrong with this as it's a baby who happens to be a boy...lol. Our first kid and only boy BTW got his first lovey from his dad in the hospital and it was the little giraffe. We named it Ralphy and his first birthday was an original "Ralphy" theme complete with the giraffe's face created on it. Let your husband know that he is now 9 and is so caught up into his sports, legos, and video games at times I wish we could go back to those lovey days. So, tell your husband to let this baby be just that a baby because the time will fly soon enough.
